Looks like we could have a new member in both football and basketball!
Been speculating this for months :)
Welcome aboard if this turns out to be true.

It is going to be weird having another school refering to themselves as Western....I think you will have to change that. 03-razz ......After all we too used to be known as the Hilltoppers, then we changed 60 years ago just for you.

Don't you think it is time you do something for us? :D

Once again, if this pans out......WELCOME!
I hope it really happens. It would benefit both Western and the MAC.
MTSU would also fit well into the conference. With the departure of Marshall and Central Florida, WKU and MTSU would be excellent replacements.

The future of the MAC looks great!!! :)
Yes a combo of MTSU and WKU would work out well. Both are very strong in Basketball and MTSU already has an established football program and both are regional.

We will just have to wait and see....
Actually I hope this works out so we can have a little southern presence again. These two teams wouldn't be my first choice but it will work for now.
While MTSU is a good pickup, I don't like the location factor. It might give the MAC decent exposure elsewhere in the nation, but traveling would suck - especially for an athlete - especially if the athlete plays for MTSU.
Can't wait til Bowling Green plays a road game in Bowling Green! 04-drinky

Its only probally one game in football, two in basketball, it would be harder on those schools to travel to other MAC schools, hence it makes no sense for the Toledo/Miami CUSA deal.
Western Kentucky and Ball State could turn into a good rivalry. I am happy to see them join, if this turns out to be true.
What kind of TV contracts (ESPN, FoxSports, etc.) does the MAC currently have. When would the ESPN contract be up for renewal?

WKU fan
Per who? Did I miss the source somehow? 03-confused
Both schools would be good for basketball. I don't know how WKU will respond to moving up from 1-AA, since the competition will be stiffer. I also saw their stadium and it's very, very small. I'd imagine that would have to be expanded ASAP. MTSU I know little about, but it seems as though WKU would actually bring more to the table immediately.

My only concern is if WKU and MTSU could maintain 15K attendance if the new regulations kick in.
I wet get too excited yet, his link goes to another message board.

Nice to know your band thinks so highly of the Bobcats.
Who are the bobcats? The only "Ohio" team that I am aware of is tOSU. Are you referring to something else?

That's only one letter from Tofu.

Equally tasteless, however.
I'll put this in the "interesting" column until I see more verification. And although enticing to hear, 38 million for WKU to improve their stadium seems ridiculously high (and where in the world are they gonna get that kind of "coin" anyway??). They only need a new away side seating another 10K.......seems like $10 mil would do the trick nicely.
A question I have with a WKU and MTSU expansion is what divisions are these schools going to be placed?

MAC East?
Buffalo, Kent, Arkon, WKU, MTSU, Ohio, MiamiO

MAC West?
Ballst, NIU, WMU, EMU, CMU, WKU, MTSU

MAC South?
BallSt, WKU, MTSU, Bowling Green, MiamiO, Ohio, Kent

I've been opposed to this move, but Chryst may know something about the value of WKU and MTSU that we don't. I know you'll get the Kentucky and Tennesse markets for regional TV. I had not considered it before but you might also be able to get the games on TV in Saint Louis. Expansions are always done for a reason, and maybe Chryst has been told that by adding WKU and MTSU that it will increase the amount of national appearances in men's basketball on ESPN.

I don't know.....it could be quite interesting.
If it happens, I will be happy. I am skeptical at this point though. I know that expansion has come up lately in MAC discussions and this might be something that Chryst pulled out to get all the MAC schools to unite last week. This would improve MAC basketball right away.
