Quote:During last season's game against Bowling Green, a graduate student, skeptical of the athletic department's attendance claims, took digital pictures of the stands and counted the fans. He reported the results in a letter to the editor of the Ball State Daily News: 3,249 fans at the start of the second quarter. The announced attendance was 8,325.

Thanks Mr. Ball State Grad Student for supporting my claims.

The truth is out there. And it's gonna hurt when they sharpen up their pencils and audit these lower-MAC programs.

I would like to again suggest that mods consider banning Chemist.

His signature says it all.
Dipshit.

If you bothered to do a little research, you'd know that the "grad student" in question is a disgruntled track athlete, pissed off that his sports had been cut and carrying a major axe to grind against the football program. He refused to actually provide the photos he claimed to have and refused to provide proof that they weren't doctored, and two other season-ticket holders provided photos of the game that verified the attendance figures. If anything, it showed the official attendance figures for that game to be an undercount.

The info was in a letter to the editor in the student paper, and it was thoroughly debunked and discredited. The Star reporter didn't do his homework, either, because he listed 2002 attendance figures for BSU, not 2003.

What ? My signature ?

As compared to some of the other signatures out there ?

Huh ?

Certainly Oddball and others come to mind.

Get real.

You call us stupid with every post:

"Proudly bleeding green and hating the MAC and their stupid fans since 1997 !!"

That's out of line.

Oddball's signature is simply a link to a Toledo Rockets Web site. I don't understand your point.

Thanks for the name calling.

Notice that I never refer to people as "dip$hits" or "a$sholes" or whatever.

I just bring you the facts, sir.

Here's a quote from one of your own:

Quote:My friends and I were intrigued. We also know that Ball State has been notorious for double and triple clicking people at the gates in order to achieve their coveted attendance marks.

You can decide for yourself.

That's not an article, it's a letter to the editor. I actually wrote it because I'm a Bill Lynch fan and think BSU fired a good man without supplying him with enough resources to win. Or at least I could have. Letters to the editor are by and for people with personal agendas.
Um, meth lab boy, a couple of things:

1. That's the letter that PapaLou was referring to...you know, the one where the author refused to hand over his incontrivertible proof. The one from the track runner with an axe to grind, an agenda to promote.

2. It's a letter to the editor, not a news report. In a letter to the editor, authors need not provide provable facts, since they are usually statements of opinion. In contrast, to be a news report, his "facts" would have to be verified. Since he refused to hand over the photos for verification, his "facts" are questionable at best.

3. Glad to see you don't let facts get in the way of your facts.
RS - Attempting to reason with a meth-head "tweeker" is noble - pointless, but noble.

He probably was talking about Oddball's political avatar caricture, which is not an uncommon way throughout history to mock ones political opponents.

I wouldn't use the term stupid in categorizing MAC fans. Most of them share this MAC ideology that binds them together like pilgrims circling the wagons before an indian attack. Defending each others MAC schools from attacks by UCF and Marshall fans.

Its rare that you find any MAC fans openly "curious" about switching to CUSA. See it more among the rocket fans than from elsewhere. Karl can be caught peeping on the CUSA BOTD.

Most of these MAC schools rank so low on the totem poll athletically they are clinging desperatley to what they have. I've always felt that what we have here in the MAC is not enough for my school, especially in basketball were we only have one token regular season national broadcast. The attitude I see out of many of them is that basketball is all we have in the MAC on a main stage, yet out of the same mouths you'll hear that the MAC will never be high major, will never get any respect. I don't know, to me that basically says logically that there is no point to MAC basketball......
C-USA isn't interesting to Miami fans because we have rivalries with BG, Toledo and OU that we like, plus we have no geographic rivals in C-USA. Sure, it'd be nice to be a in conference with Memphis State, but that's about the only interest point. Now, if Louisville was still in C-USA along with UC, sure, we'd be interested, but they are long gone the last time I checked.

Not really. More specifically I am referring to Mini-Me's signatures that included incessent remarks about Marshall being "cheaters" and "jackasses" and such.

Several disparaging remarks about our coach and fans that he has historically had in his signature also stick in my mind.

What has Ohio basketball done to show it deserves more? One "national exposure" is a gift.

Besides, you argue OU can't recruit due to its location anyway, so what does a conference matter?

First, I WAS openly curious about CUSA and said so. We'd be foolish not to at least LOOK at and EXPLORE our options. Frankly, under the current circumstances, I'm glad we're staying put. As for the BOTD board...GTS offered to set one up here and got a lot of flack for it, as I recall. Me, I happen to ENJOY scantily clad attractive women. And I don't just peep. I contribute...a lot :D

Oh, and I still check out the CUSA expansion thread regularly. I'm anxious to see what comes of it all.
HerdChemist89,
Although I had promised to leave this board alone, as too many people who have strong feelings towards ignorance stay here, I feel that I have to help you on this one. PapaLou is a very opinionated person, who only feels that he is right. I will not degrade him as he does me, but he has strong opinions. The numbers are correct. And I have the pictures if you would like to see them. Although I am sure by posting this, I will be called a dipshit, and other such names, I feel that supporting you is only fair. I am glad that others see how it is, not how they want it to be. Enjoy the glory of being correct. Fight on my friend.

You're not a dipshit, you have an axe to grind and it's been identified.

PS - your "alliance" is a bit misguided - HC has been banned from the MAC board. 03-lol
Who doesn't have an axe to grind? I think that is just a saying that means pushing your cause. You are all grinding the proverbial football axe by dreaming that the MAC will one day be a strong football conference. I am not saying that it will or will not, as I do not wish to bring out the smart people on this board, I am only saying that it should not be seen as a negative. Or as some stupid runners trying to save their sport. It should be seen as a fight to see what is right (even if you don't believe it is) happen.

As for my alliance. I am sorry for his banning. I am sure his opinions weren't that of the consensus, and therefore warrented his ban. Sorry to hear that someone who disagrees with the flow is considered a dipshit. I was always taught that was a leader. Who knows.

People do not get banned for having different opinions.

I don't understand this paranoia. PPL get banned for violating the AUP.
BSUbreakdown Wrote:Sorry to hear that someone who disagrees with the flow is considered a dipshit. I was always taught that was a leader.
And i was taught that someone who is contrary for the sake of being contrary is nothing more than an antagonist. Your "leader" was only interested in picking fights and riling up people; he admitted as much himself on numerous occasions.

A leader can be contrary from the majority, but a leader has a reason besides trying to piss people off -- and usually is more interested in getting people to follow him than alienating everyone around him. Meth Lab Boy's admitted objective was to piss off as many MAC fans as he could...and that was about the only thing he was a leader in.

Now, can we please have more of the persecution complex? Or could you mix it up with a little passive-aggressive? Things are going to be a little boring around here now that Meth Lab boy has been banished to his Meth Lab....
