If there ever was a "statement game" today's matchup at East Tennessee State is it. Picked to finish last in the North Division in preseason polls, Appalachian State can win the division with a win and will have led it from start to finish.
Our guys need to think about what it has taken to get to this point. They should feel an immense amount of pride and realize they're job isn't quite done and will take a Herculean effort. We haven't played well the last two or three weeks. Now it's time to wash the bitter taste of the last two seasons from our mouths and go out and win when no one is giving us much of a chance to do so.
I'm very proud of what the Mountaineers have done this season. I think the future looks pretty bright. We need a big man in recruiting, but I think we have some talent to stay among the top programs in the North Division next year. Regardless of today's outcome, these guys have turned things around and given us all something to cheer about.
Whether we win or lose, it's been a great season and I'm packing my bags for the tournament where we'll have a chance -- four games or three.
