I never say it published - does anyone know?
In the official stat sheet (http://muredhawks.collegesports.com/spor...Stats.html) it lists attendance at 0 (zero). Maybe the lightning blew up the turnstiles. As mentioned somewhere else, yet another reason the 15,000 rule is bad.
I listened to that game. Apparently the crowd came to the game and then left the stadium and then came back.

How would one count the attendance in what might have been a chaotic situation?
I have no earthly idea how they came up with an attendance figure........according to some at the game, they never did go through turnstiles (either time they entered the stadium) in all the confusion.

There was rain and lightning preceding the game........they cleared the stands 15 minutes before kick-off, with perhaps half the crowd not in their seats yet. Some students headed back to dorms where the game was TV (it was broadcasted in Dayton, Cincy and Oxford areas), and many students on the way to the game probably never made it I would guess.

Anyway, with the rain still coming down they re-filled the stadium 40 minutes later and played. The Enquirer listed official attedance as 18K, but again, I don't know how it'd be accurate. Due to the weather, the emptying of the stadium and uncertain start, and the local TV I suspect we lost thousands vs. what we would've had, which is one reason it's hard to use attendance to determine IA affiliation. To be honest, given the circumstances, (plus the fact that we had a IAA team to play), I don't think the final attendance count was all that bad.
It was my understanding that the average attendence included only games against Division IA opponents.
NCAA just posted the numbers. (18,022 for MUr)
