I am not a gambler, but the latest lines for Saturday are both revealing and humbling nonetheless. No doubt a lot of the college football analysts on ESPN, etc. who have little respect for mid-majors will delight in the MAC having a bad day on Saturday, especially after all the publicity the conference received in 2003. Hopefully the MAC rises to the ocassion and shuts the yap of the Craig James of the world.

Maryland 14 1/2
NIU

Iowa 30
Kent State

Michigan 14 1/2
Miami (OH)

Oklahoma 32
Bowling Green .....jeez

Penn State 15
Akron

Wisconsin 24
UCF

How is that humbling?

Did anyone expect to be favored in any of those game?

I'm not thinking humbling was the word you are looking for because I doubt any of the teams care about the spread.
I think Akron, Miami, and NIU all have a chance to win those games.

Who would have thought the MAC would beat up on K State, Alabama, and Pitt all on the same weekend.

Craig James is an idiot.
Looks like a big improvement to me. All of these games would have been 28-30 point spreads a few years ago. Remember also that spreads are set to get people to bet evenly on one side or the other. You need to entice people to take the lower profile teams to draw action.
the BG/Oklahoma line is the one I shake my head at. 32 is a lot of points, and BG scores lots of points.

So does oklahoma...Look at what they did to the texas schools!

I'm not sure if i'd take the points or if i'd take Oklahoma, wonder what over/under is.

The idea of the line is to get money evened out on both sides. BG's new QB could really hurt them, but damn that's a lot of points to lay down. And BG is better than Texas A&M last year.

How can you say that, you haven't even seen them play?
Willy has a point, but I'd take that line. BG will be sky-high for this game, and even if they're not as potent as last year, they're probably good enough to avoid a major embarrassment.

It's an opinion. Knowing what BG has coming back, I'm pretty damn sure they'll be pretty good. And I was comparing them to last year's A&M team, which wasn't very good.
Vegas is never wrong.
My gut tells me BG will cover, but barely. OK is a monster early in the season.
I dont think BG matches up well with OK. OK has so much speed. OSU last year was not an offensive juggernaut by anymeans and the match up was much more favorable.

Dont forget, BG in their last game last year with their stud quarterback beat a 6-6 Northwestern by 3 or 4 at a neutral site.

OK wins by 28.

I hope I'm wrong
