How long do you think Dave Odom will coach at USC?
2 more years at the most. I like Dave and he is a good x & o coach but he cant recruit at the level we need. We should have offered Pitino 2.5 to 3 million per year and thought of it as a bargain. He would bring 2 million worth of publicity alone. We would have struggled the 1st year but after that we would be on cruise control. We need mold breakers as our coaches. People with attitude and fire and Dave is not the guy.
Two more seasons, .....at the most, three.

UNLESS....he shocks the world and turns USC into a top-20, NCAA contender in that time. To do that, he'll have to get on the stick in recruiting. Otherwise, things don't good for ol' DO right now.

The question is: who do we go after next? I agree with Jay.....someone like Pitino is what we need. However, since that's unlikely, our next best bet might be a younger coach......someone with some experience, but mostly the fire and energy to recruit and build a program. We have great basketball potential at USC.......why can't we get the hoops program going?
Maybe Marshall at Winthrop is the guy and we fumbled on that chance. He will be picked up by someone else before we get rid of Dave.
I'm surprised Gregg hasn't been hired yet - is it something we don't know. I was sure Clemson would have snagged him.
I keep wondering the exact same thing. Why was he not hired as Cof C coach? I like you thought CU would snag him and he didn't get a sniff.

I've heard Marshall has some baggage that comes along with the package and that baggage is not very good. I've also heard that not many high school coaches in both SC and NC care for him.

Not sure how true that is but it keeps coming up in different conversations.
Yeah, and having good relationships with the high schools is CRITICAL in today's coaching. So if that's the case, we really don't need him. I really think USC is a sleeping giant in basketball.....the potential is there.......but we have to have a coach who can light a fire under us and get us going.
