I thought for sure the response was going to be "Troy State's *****."

I was gonna put "out of excuses," but I know that isn't true. 03-nutkick

I'm sure they are all waiting for one of the "smart ones" to formulate a few for them before they start posting.
Wasn't that a questionable Illegal Substitution penalty on the 4th down that would have given them the ball at their 30 with almost 3:00 left?

Well, nowhere but Huntington.

Cheaters Never Prosper. A demoralizing loss for Conference USA.

I'm sure Marshall folks will be back here talking about how they don't care about OOC games..."They play for championships!"

Yeah, right.

They've been a blight on the MAC for 7 years.

They've cheated and kept quality MAC teams from receiving their just rewards.

Then when caught, they turn out a program that's got every Div IAA team calling up looking for revenge.

"Raised the bar"? Hell, they're more like an anchor.

They're a sorry excuse for competitors... a perfect match for CUSA.
Nah we pretty much just suck. No need to color that. Worse...the day of MAC attack seems to have been sucked back in by the gods and respewed out as so much pain and distruction. Sorry guys. I was hoping all of us would win big today. Oh well.
IMO , that penalty wouldn't have mattered , we couldn't move the
ball all night , so I doupt very seriously we would have went 70
yards in 2:30 .....

perhaps you replied a touch to hastily to our misery. I'll take the 2 point loss over the 56 point loss minus two junk TD's.
way I see it is NIU is the only team who played today who can say anything to anyone. and Ohio I suppose.
yes sadly I agree if I spelled things right

Yes, our loss was embarrassing. However, it was on the road against a top-notch Big 10 team. Marshall lost at home to a SBC team...and not even a very good one. Add in the "swagger" factor, and I'd say that Marshall's loss was easily the worst of the day on an all-around bad day for the conference.
I think BG played respectable @ Oaklahoma ..
Now I know I'm looking for bright spots....but the Flashes had some at Iowa. Keep in mind that the Hawkeyes are credited with their best defense "ever" and we played without three offensive starters, inlcuding J.C. So the bright spots?

1. Believe it or not, the defense is faster and hits harder. The secondary is vastly improved. They were on the field most of the game and hit until the end. What a change from last year!

2. Antwon Smith has a good arm with way too many balls dropped yesterday. He's a bigger J.C. with a better arm. Smith will be a pleasure to watch develop under Martin.

I never thought the Flashes would beat Iowa...but this is much better team that lost to a weaker Hawkeyes crew in Iowa City 55-0 three years ago.

The real season starts on Sept. 23. For the first time in years, I think we'll be ready.

I agree wholeheartedly!
My only question is: What game did the AP watch? "Oklahoma "routs" Bowling Green"? I'm not making excuses, however this game could have turned out differently IF not for a number of close plays. Ex: 3rd and 13 deep in their own territory, making a first down by INCHES on a fourth down, the interference call that was NOT, etc. etc. etc. The Falcons got beat by a very good team, however the word "rout" should have been saved for a game like Toledo's.
Still thinkin BCS boys? 03-lol 03-lol 03-lol
thats the way the press is , no respect ..hell even Corso said before
the game that OU would score 60 points ....

I've also seen that same terminology used to describe Oklahoma's win. As I mentioned in another thread, since when did losing by two touchdowns - granted with 2 point conversions - equate to a "rout"?

Oddball, not to defend Marshall but....

Toledo got absolutely drilled in a game that they were picked to win by some people.

I don't know if YOU are in any position to rag on someone's loss.

I know I'm not.

True, but Marshall was supposed to be a lock - UT was going on the road to a top 20 team.

IMO, UT's destruction helps MAC detractors say "see, it's only an occasional fluke", and that hurts.

IMO, Marshall's loss to Troy helps MAC detractors say "Geez, I thought they were good, but they lost to who?"
