What??? No Mount Union, Capital, or Findlay? i think you are biased.
Most of the lower-division schools probably haven't started their seasons yet. I know my non-scholarship alma mater never kicks off until the third Saturday in September.
Hey, we aren't last and are ahead of Akron. At this point in the season, that's all this Flashes fan asks for!

Not that I don't appreciate the recognition for OHIO's win last Saturday, but number 2? Stick, you haven't gone of and gotten soft on us from last season have you? 03-wink

Man, right now I have no idea how strong OHIO is or how we will fare against Akron, Kent, or even Buffalo. How we play at Pitt this weekend will be a good indication on whether this team is for real or not now.
1. Ohio State (1-0)- Loses 14 players in the NFL draft but is still the best team in the state. Also still hasn't lost to an in-state school since 1921(damn Oberlin!) Next: vs. Marshall. Prediction: WIN

2. Bowling Green (0-1)- Put up a good fight at Oklahoma, Omar Jacobs is filling in nicely at QB. Next: vs. SE Missouri State. Prediction: WIN

3. Miami (1-1)- Maybe we'll find out how good this team really is when Josh Betts doesn't throw 35 interceptions. Next: at Cincinnati. Prediction: WIN

4. Cincinnati (0-1)- Dantonio is all ready turning UC into a mini-OSU gaining just 200 yards of offense in the opener. But the defense is good and will keep them in every game. Next: vs. Miami. Prediction: LOSS

5. Toledo (0-1)- Luckily for Toledo very few teams like to run the ball in the MAC... 400 yards rushing by the Goofers! The way the Rockets gave up isn't very encouraging either. Next: at Kansas. Prediction: WIN

6. Ohio (1-0)- How good is Ohio U.? Nobody really knows, but if they repeat the offensive show they put on against VMI this week, you can expect them to skyrocket in my rankings. Next: at Pittsburgh. Prediction: LOSS

7. Kent State (0-1)- Defense played decent enough(by Kent standards) in opening loss at Iowa. This week the Offense errr.. I mean Joshua Cribbs makes his return. Next: vs. Liberty. Prediction: WIN

8. Akron (0-1)- I realize that Happy Valley is a tough place to play at, but giving up 41 first half points to State Penn is not a a good way to start the season. Frye put up good numbers but the offense still couldn't score a TD on the Lions starting D. Next: vs. Middle Tenn. St. Prediction: WIN.

9. Youngstown St. (1-0)- Struggled in the first half of opening win against Div. 2 Slippery Rock before pulling away in the second half. We should know more after this week's match up with a Division 1-a wannabe. Next: vs. Florida International. Prediction: WIN

I didn't rank Dayton because they don't give scholarships and are not a major college football program. They belong in a small school rankings along with D-2, D-3, and NAIA programs.
1) OSU slaughters Marshall by 30
2) Toledo beats Kansas
3) Miami edges Cincy
4) Cincy losses
5)BG pounds SEMO. They are awful.
6) YSU beats Florida INT . (loaded with 28 Big 10 & SEC transfers)
7)Akron edges Middle Tenn.
8)Kent beats Liberty ( They are terrible)
9)Ohio gets drilled by Pitt ( 21 points or better)
10) Dayton plays Mt. Union caliber ball. Like to see that game.
Since I am bored and none of you care, here is my Ohio small school Top 10:

1. Mount Union (1-0)- They are still angry about St. John's snapping their college football record 55 game winning streak and denying them a 4th straight national championship. Shut out Washington U. in week 1. Next: vs. John Carrol. Prediction: WIN

2. Capital (1-0)- The Crusaders pounded fellow Lutheran school and traditional D-3 powerhouse Wittenberg by a score of 49-16. Could Rocky Pentello be the best D-3 player in the nation as a sophmore? He certainly is playing that way. Next: vs. Otterbein. Prediction: WIN

3. Dayton (1-0)- The Flyer's defense dominated Tiffin in a 38-9 victory on Thursday. Dayton's first real test should come in 2 weeks when Ivy league power Yale comes to town. Next: Morehead State. Prediction: WIN

4. Findlay (2-0)- The Oilers are off the a 2-0 start with wins at Tiffin and Hillsdale. Favorable GLIAC schedule allows them to miss Grand Valley St. this year. Next: at Northern M*ch*g*n. Prediction: WIN

5. Baldwin-Wallace (1-0)- Yellow Jackets were challenged in a tough road test at Allegheny but finally pulled away late for a 27-14 win. Next: vs. Ohio Northern. Prediction: WIN

6. Wooster (1-0)- Star RB Tony Sutton was held under 100 yards rushing by a surprisingly tough Muskingum D. Even without Sutton having a moster of a game that he is accustomed to, the Scots still cruised to a 27-6 win. Next: at Grove City. Prediction: WIN

7. John Carroll (0-0)- Blue Streaks open up their season this weekend with a trip to Hope college as a tune up before their big game with Mount in 2 weeks. JCU is coming off of a 7-3 record from last year. Next: at Hope. Prediction: WIN

8. Walsh (1-0)- The Cavs set the tone early by scoring 2 TD's in the first minute on the way to a 41-0 win over the upstart Ohio Dominican program. Next: vs. West Liberty State. Prediction: WIN.

9. Wittenberg (0-1)- Maybe I'm giving the Tigers too much credit after the 49-16 whooping from Capital. But I think they will rebound, there is too much talent on the roster for them not too. If they can beat Thomas Moore in 2 weeks, then they should cruise through their next 4 games of Huntingdon, Denison, Earlham, and Hiram. Next: vs. Thomas Moore. Prediction: WIN

10. Ohio Northern (1-0)- Polar Bears didn't allow their problems with the NCAA affect their play in a 31-0 win over Westminster. Bye this week before OAC play starts. Next: at Baldwin-Wallace. Prediction: Loss

Waiting List: Ashland (1-1), Otterbein (1-0), Mount St. Joseph's(1-0), Malone (0-0), Blufton (1-0), Marietta (1-0), Case Western Reserve (1-0).
Buckeye..........enjoyed seeing your ranking of the DIII Ohio schools!

Stick: Lose the non-scholarship teams from your "fair and official" poll. MAC schools (even bad ones) would beat Dayton by 4 TD's.
STU -- Good D-II will always beat good D-III. Good D-II is better than I-AA non-schollie,barely. That said,heres how I would rank Ohio's D-II,D-III & NAIA schools

1) Findlay, playing the toughest D-II conference in the country
2)Mt. Union, Best D- III playing at a near D-II level
3)Dayton, I-AA non-schollie, would kill to see them verses Mt. Union
4)Ashland, D-II thats rebuilt and also in the GLIAC
5)B-W, still a load in D-III
6)Capital, OAC is still a better D-III conference than other Ohio leagues
7) Wooster, slight edge over
8) Wittenberg , old D-III power in an academic league
9) John Carroll ,, they may be better than this, but they have to prove it
10)Ohio Northern, down talent wise, but still a load.

Close ,but no cigar-- Walsh , best NAIA school in Ohio

You are right, the very top programs in D-2 football would beat the top programs in D-3. But Findlay, even though they play in a great conference, in not a top 25 D-2 team. It was only a few years ago that they made the jump from NAIA to D-2 and they still have a ways to go. I would take Mount Union, Capital, and Dayton to beat Findlay this year.
