I didn't realize Troy was in Ohio :D
I asked somebody last week why in the hell CUSA chose SMU and UTEP over Troy.

Troy has CUSA written all over it.

They'll have to wait bout 10 years though until the next round of conference realignments.
UTEP and SMU stink...but they are established. heh

Why?

UTEP brings a great basektball program.

SMU brings.....money. :D

Troy is a good program, just didn't fit this time around. Until then, they're stuck in the Sun Belt.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy beating their garbage fans into submission in basketball.....for one last year!
Ya'll will get a laugh out of this I'm sure, but don't be so quick to assume Troy will be leaving the Sun Belt.

Give it two or three years and the new Sun Belt will be a better all sports conference than the MAC.

Troy would be a good addition to expand the MAC a little when we add Western Kentucky in a few years.
What kind of a school is Troy anyway? Degrees...........enrollment........facilities?? I'd say it's much better suited for hte Sunbelt given its deep south location.

By the way, you Herd fans can take some solace in the fact that Troy is for real, and maybe your team isn't so bad after all (as some of your fans seem to think)!
I'd also like to know what kind of academic school they are before just saying "bring 'em to the MAC because they have a good football team in 2004". Is Montgomery, Alabama really that attractive for the MAC "footprint"?
According to the commercial last night and the announcers they are a miltary tied school with branches in 17 states and 10 other countries mostly in Asia. They have a worldwide mission and they provide education to soldiers abroad. That's pretty impressive IMO.
Montgomery,Ala. ?? Better get out a road map !! It's Troy Ala. In the sticks .
This thread kind of reminds me of the C-USA board...........most everytime some non-C-USA/non-BCS school beats a notable opponent, there is a chorus of "let's invite them to our conference" talk. What nonsense............what does one or two notable victories mean in the grand scheme of things. It's all about budgets, overall strength of the athletic departent, markets, geography, facilities, and even academic mission. It's nice that Troy beat Missou, but they are in nowhere-ville, Alabama, for gosh sakes! Don't mean that as a "knock" on them, but I surely can't see a fit for the MAC there.

P.S. By the way, I did hear they have a very nice football stadium.......I tried to check it on their web-site, but didn't see any facilties section or pictures.
Considering the metroplolises that most MAC schools are located in.

The town a school is in has nothing to do with the school.

And BTW if the MAC is concerned with all around strenght of the athletic department, then why in the name of crap are you talking about bringing in WKU, they have basketball and that's about it. Kentucky can only support one decent football team at a time. They caught a lucky draw in the SBC baseball tournament and played MT who had already played Lafayette three times and lucked into a win. That's how they got into the NCAA tournament there.

Sorry. I'm just tired of hearing Western (probably the 5 or 6 best overall school in the Sun Belt talk about how they're so much better. Hell they're I-AA with a stadium that seats about 14,000 people and they can't even fill half of it. I think it might be less of a foregone conclusion than many think it is.

Their administration will never make a commitment to football.
Hey, Troy does have rodeo. Yee Haw! Does this qualify for Title IX? :D

Alright, gotcha. I thought I saw Montgomery on their website and I know they flew out of Montgomery to Huntington last weekend. Never assume!

Anyway, I'm not one to talk since my school (UB) was invited to the MAC and haven't done squat in football..... but at least they aren't bringing the conference down academically.
Troy St. might be a world class institution.....I just don't know anything about them? Cincy Kid pretty much stated exactly how I feel on the subject.
I checked the attendance on the Troy/Missouri game last night. It was 26,547. On TV it looked like their stadium held 40K. Good team and I was pulling for them. Last year they averaged over 21K attendance. Not a fit for the MAC because of location, but a few MAC schools, mine included could take a lesson from their program.
