1. Who goes to the motor city bowl (ford field Detroit Dec. 27) Is it first place team in mac or second place team? vs. who?
2. Who goes to the GMAC bowl game? Who decides? whats the criteria?
3. Is it true that GMAC bowl (in mobile Ala. dec.22 this year) picks the teams usually before mac conference championship is played? (Dec.2)
4. how much money is involved in each bowl?
4.-----payout for both is 750,000 I believe.

as to the rest, I don't have a clue. It's probably a lot of negotiations between Chryst and the bowl commitees.

It's like this.....

The GMAC gets the first pick. They can pick any bowl-eligible MAC team (though I think there is a potential out to a WAC team if certain criteria are met or not met). They have only selected MAC East teams thus far, but they are not required to take anyone.

The MCB gets the second pick, and if the team the GMAC selected is not the MAC champion (winner of the MAC title game), the MCB must select the MAC champ.

How the bowls make their selections obviously depends on several factors including record, marketability and fan following. But thus far the MAC title game participants have been the only ones selected, presumably because at least so far they have been the two most well-known teams in the conference at that time.
It's conceivable that the MACC loser could be 6-6 and not eligible.

It's also conceivable that BG could beat Marshall, and Marshall could represent the MAC-E.

Should it be something like NIU over Marshall (7-5) in the MACC, w/ BG at 9-2, I can see Chryst lobbying for NIU and BG to be in the bowls. In fact, I would expect it.

Some arguments might be: NIU to Mobile b/c they were just in Detroit, so they may want different scenery and BG proved they can bring a crowd to Detroit. And yes, the fact that Marshall is leaving would play a big role. Chryst would do what he thought was in the best interest for the MAC, and its future.

I think such an argument has a chance b/c Mobile recognizes that Marshall can/will be back, Marshall v. CUSA is not intriguing, while NIU is more novel and beat 'Bama last year.
