Gets funnier every game.

I think I know what they're doing - they're counting us coming in AND going out.

Reality: Closer to 10-12,000.
Much better than last week, but nowhere close to 2/3's full.
Nert, why are you so obsessed with EMU's attendance?
HuronDave Wrote:Nert, why are you so obsessed with EMU's attendance?
Because Nert knows that EMU's math will get you a job at Enron. :D
Well, it appears everyone is lying good enough to stay over 15K........for now.
HuronDave:

I bought tickets for EMU to help them out - so I've been to two of their 4 home games.

It is painfully obvious that they are bloating the attendance numbers. That stadium wasn't even half full - much less two thirds full.

It's a joke what they're reporting as attendance - that's all there is to it. It's quite obvious EMU has decided to simply pad the numbers to make their counts.

My point of view is: "hell, if you're gonna lie - why not just call them all sell-outs?"
This guy could have used those EMU attendance people.

How's the counting at UCF ??? :D
Take another gander at those NIU figures! The turnaround that Novak has made up there is nothing short of unbelievable! Go back 5-10 years and they weren't "drawing flies" and now they routinely get 26K plus for home games, even those that are on TV! Very impressive..............I'm not trying to "take sides" here, but it'd be interesting to see what NIU could do (fan support wise) if they ever make it to the MACC or a bowl game.
I agree. But the students make up 7,000 or so of those tickets. Plus this last week was band day and parents day. Then again, Akron is not a very good draw for us, since they are in the other division, so what better day to have band day and parents day! I do notice a buzz among the alumni, more and more are coming back for games and also making road trips. We're hoping for another few years of success, because one bad season and that may all change. My hope is that we eventually add about 10,000 seats to that place and get our capacity up around 40K, that way we maybe able to schedule a Northwestern or someone of that calliber at home.

I'll be really interested to see what NIU can do if we ever get this damn end zone office facility funded! Give us an equal facility foothold and look out!!! 04-rock
Toledo at 21,933 seems a stretch to me this week. I've gotten pretty good at guestimating the crowd size, and this week I was WAY off. They used turnstiles, so it's hard to argue with them, but I wouldn't have guessed more than 19K, if that. They reported 5K in students, and there weren't nearly as many as the week before against Temple. Maybe I missed something, but it didn't look like the crowd came close to the reported number.
New Technique:
What you do is as soon as everyone is in the game, you turn the turnstiles around backwards, then as people are leaving, they are getting counted again!

That might be what EMU has been doing - they just don't divide by 2 when they're done.
So if the NCAA is serious about these attendance requirements, why don't they send peolpe to actually monitor the attendance reporting?

It sounds like EMU is lying out their @ss about attendance- so how is the NCAA supposed to take any action if the "reported" attendance is WAY above the actual? It seems like if they want to get serious and bump teams down that don't draw, they're going to have to get serious about monitoring the attendance counting.

That said- say goodbye to our spot at the top of average. Our attendance will get worse and worse.

That's been the point - the attendance regulations aren't there to knock someone down, it's to keep teams from coming up.
Ding! Ding! Ding! And we have a winner...HuskieDan>.
