Quote:No offense to the Mid American Conf, but weve created a seperation from Miami of Ohio, Toledo, and Bowling Green.

This is what Associate AD of .....HAHAHA  U of Cincinnati........HAHAHA said in this weeks ESPN magazine talking about How Cincy is moving to the Big East.

Please!!!!!!!

The ONLY thing different is that UC piggybacked their PATHETIC excuse for a football team into the Big East on Bobby tHuggins's coat tails.

No offense to the MAC??

How about you play FOOTBALL and not just reap the benifits from your OVERATED basketball team.
He's right. Recruiting shot up last season for Louisville, Cincinnati, and South Florida upon the announcement of their move to the Big East UC couldn't effectively recruit Ohio playing in the Southern based CUSA, now they can.

Having storied names like Pitt, WVU, and Syracuse on the schedule as conference rivals every year is BIG. There is talk of moving the Football Games to Paul Brown Stadium where they think UC Big East Football could draw in the 40,000 range. If any school in Ohio could be the number 2 option in Football behind OSU in Ohio its UC which already has the big time basketball and the financial backing that accompanies it. UC is going to be entering a new era of Football scheduling and if they could pull off a home and home series with OSU it would be huge for the program.

UC's program doesn't have much history a lot like Temple. One big difference is there is no Pitt in Ohio, and UC has never had a shot in a BCS conference before. UC also has some academic respect, at least locally, while Temple is overshadowed by Penn, Villanova, Drexel ect. I have a friend who went to Temple and he said Temple has a TERRIBLE reputation. Can't say the same for UC, especially in professional programs.

KC,

I understand all your points and I agree, but there is only one thing I look at when conmaparing football team to football team.

Thats how they play football.

All the recuirting and tradition and all that crap factors in, but until they prove they can actually play football I think no more of UC than I do Buffalo......sorry SUNY-BUFFALO......or Temple.

UC is not a school that scream football. It wimpers football and would love to be included, but cant as they blow.

Things will obviously change for them but until they can play the game at a level of their peers then anything UC - football related is pointless.
UC beat Miami once, after possibly the best player in the history graduated. UC is smoking crack if they think they're head and shoulders above teams that have a recent habit of beating them.

That is my point.

Sure they may be off to a "better" conf with more fringe benefits, but does anyone really think that UC is now better than BGSU or Toledo or the MAC as stated??

This Associate AD is a chump.
Maybe Cincy should worry about topping the mighty Army Black Knights first, before talking about how much better they are than other teams.

And perhaps the moron AD should realize the only reason the pathetic UC program is in the BCS is due to it's basketball program, and that's it.

Yes. Everybody outside of the MAC who read that magazine.

People who aren't already knowledgeable about MAC football will trust whatever they read in magazines like SI or ESPN. It doesn't matter if it's a load of crap, the truth has never gotten in the way of mass market sports media. Most people don't take the time to do any research on programs they don't see every weekend on TV so they just accept.

The MAC isn't in this tough spot because it lacks talent or good programs. They simply don't work the mainstream media as well as... well everyone else. (Big East, C-USA, BigTen...) Hopefully Toledo's 5 game coverage on ESPN and ESPN2 this year indicates that the conference is turning that around.

im sorry. which team is 2-4 and just helped army snap a 19 game losing streak?
That's what separates them from teams like Toledo, bugs, and Miami

Could that loss to Army be anymore embarassing for UC?But it says so much about the program.I've never understood why a recruit would choose UC FB over Miami,UT,or BG. Ugly concrete campus with alot of crime around it. I know, I lived on MacMillan for a while, near Ohio Ave.From my window I could look down into Nippert Stadium.

When has a MAC team lost to Cincy in a bowl game? NEVER! Besides their victory over Miami this year, when was the last time they beat a MAC school? 2000 (they were 0-5 in their last 5 games against MAC schools before beating Miami this year.

Substitute Criminal for academic and you might be closer to the truth.
UC's academics for its student-athletes is nigh impossible to locate, like some of the players in the classes they've signed up for, or were signed up for...
