The Chicago Tribune is a piece of Shiiiittttt newspaper. No story on the #26 team in the nation but a blurb on fffffffffffffffing Eastern Illinois.

EIU is 3-4 and D1AA crap.

I am going to cance my subscription with the losers.

At least it isn't an article about u of I's QB struggle. If I see one more article on Jon Buejter I'll 03-puke
We should send them the Sun-Times article. 03-wink
More like overall feeling :biggun: U of I and ND
Not surprised - It's a "Cub" paper. I'm sure there are more important things to write about, like a monotone announcer calling it quits.

Welcome to the club, NIU27! I canceled my subscription earlier this year. Make sure you tell them why (as if they really care about us, anyway).
Can someone post an e-mail to their sports editor and editor in chief. I think we should send them e-mails to 1) tell them of plan to cancel subscription and 2) question their journalism when they don't cover NIU but continue to cover e.g., Eastern, Southern, Western, and U of I. (They will always cover ND and U of I, so I wouldn;t argue they should cover NIU instead of them-- regardless of record--- but is one short featur once a week too much to ask for NIU?)

We can also point out for example, the great job the Daily Herald is doing, and ask wehter they want to keep up, or be left behind.

Don't be a dumb***...Steve stone is one of the best baseball minds/color guys in the business and of all time. I know you are probably a sox fan but that is no reason to spout off something stupid.

I agree 100%. I have no problems with the ILLini and ND coverage, as well as Northwestern. But when NIU is the best team in the state we deserve an article at least every Friday.
I don't understand why the 26th team in the nation gets rotated with the D1AA schools? The two other D1A schools that suck get an article everday and an Indiana School gets an article everyday. How hard is it to just post a little blurb about NIU a couple times a week. The trib sucks and the Cubs suck for getting rid of Stone. He was one of the best in the business.

BE SURE to write the Trib and BE SURE to let 'em know why you're cancelling. It's the only way these publications have any idea what their potential readers want.

And at the same time, when you email the writer of the Sun Times article to give appreciation for the great article today, say that it caused you to just subscibe to the Sun Times even if you didn't.

Steve Stone was simply one of the absolute best baseball color guys in the biz. For the Cubs to let him go for anything involving criticism of the team is I guess a little understandable from an organization that desperately wants homers, but is still absolutely gutless. He was a treasure for Cubs fans, and now they'll sink into the Sox trap and get two horsecrap guys like DJ and Hawk.

I have a feeling there will be a dave otto in the booth next year....

I also have a feeling that the cubs are going to slide back to being ****** again, with baker being a pretty clueless guy who for some reason can't let ramon martinez go.

So all chicago land has in terms of a winner is the Huskies....and wolves

Dear god, please, no!

And back to the thread topic, yes, the Trib has been particularly bad this week in regards to NIU coverage. They've been pretty good the last two years, so I don't understand this lousy prioritizing on their part.
Chigago Tribune's Sports Editor's e-mail:

dmcgrath@tribune.com

His name is Dan McGrath
Crazy & HD,

Out here in Baltimore the Orioles did the same thing with Jon Miller-said he criticized the Orioles too much-let him go and hired Jim Hunter in '97, who is the ultimate homer. I don't know why these teams can't take a little criticism. Miller is an awesome announcer, yet he doesn't always toe the company line so he's out the door - does the fans a tremendous disservice.

Yes - I'm a Sox fan.
There is nothing stupid about calling Stone monotone. I keep forgetting how excited he gets when the Cubs win. Or how about that sense of humor? "Hey Chip, the Cubs have some stirring down in the bullpen. I don't know, I prefer things shaken, not stirred!" - actual Steve Stone attempt at humor from this past season. Tell me, what's good about this ?

You're not going to tell me that Hawk and DJ are better joke-tellers, are you.

Thats the problem with sox fans. You guys can't just cheer for your team, granted not much to cheer about but you try and rip into the cubs too.

I don't get it, you can't just say, i'm a sox fans the cubs can do what the want? nah you always have to compare yourself to us, i'd almost even venture to say you are a little jelous so everything the cubs do gets analyzed to death, even our announcers who are 100 times better than "hawk and DJ" Maybe it's just me, but i prefer announcers who go by their real names, hawk your like 90....i think its time you grow up and stop making people call you hawk.
