In CUSA, I would put South Florida at (2-4) in "ALL BUT OUT" and UC at (4-4) in "UPHILL CLIMB"

Other than that it looks great. Thanks for your work.

I didn't have the time this weekend to do a more in-depth analysis of each team's remaining schedule. Hence some squads may need to be either a "notch" up or down in the categories.

Considering upcoming schedules, I think TCU and UC are both in the uphill climb category. UC is a bit surprising, though. I really expected them to already be out after the last 2 weeks, but they still have a heartbeat.
THANK YOU, Okie, for all your hard work. Fire up Chips!

Piggybacking on what you did, I looked at remaining games, who projects to 6+ wins, and bowls' order of picks of (e.g., Gator takes ACC#2 and picks before Peach which takes ACC#3).

While it's early, these are 9 potential at-large bowl slots to look at:

Fort Worth, Hawaii (CUSA, maybe only 4 eligible for 5 bids)
MPC Computer (ACC, maybe only 5 eligible for 6 bids)
Music City, Houston, or Independence (SEC, maybe only 7 eligible for 8 bids)
Motor City (Big 10, maybe only 6 eligible for 7 bids, and then only if Big East doesn't have 5 eligible)
Silicon Valley, Emerald (Pac 10, maybe only 5 eligible for 7 bids)
UMd had a big win this week and are back w/ a chance. Once again, a MAC team (NIU) had a chance to take them out. This is not a flame, I know NIU had their QB hurt. It's just that it was so close.

This is the upset year...the MAC getting >2 bids needs to be a part of it!
I don't have time for an in-depth analysis, either, but in perusing the conference standings this AM with my morning coffee it appeared to me that the ACC is the key....they have about 3 or 4 teams right around .500, and I guess it depends on the remaining schedue to see how many of them come out with a 6-5 record. Unless the ACC comes out with 7 or 8 bowl eligible teams, you can make a pretty strong case that the MAC may indeed pull out a 3rd bowl and I guess maybe 4 (although I think that is a pretty big stretch with Navy out there). Also, does C-USA or the BE maybe have an extra team as well?

I would give anything for NIU to play that game this week. Haldi was hurt and Wolfe had only 9 carries, this was before they really knew how special this guy is. Our defense seems to get tired at times though, not a fan.
If Utah gets a BCS bid, what about the MAC champ vs. C-USA champ at the Liberty Bowl? We may be able to provide them with their best match-up and possibly a ranked team in NIU while 2 other MAC teams go to the MCB and GMAC (out of a possibility of Marshall, Toledo, BG, or even Miami).

Just a thought........
The ACC has 10 of 11 teams that could go bowling. I doubt it plays out like that but I do believe there will be about 8 bowl teams from that league that will steal bowl bids that open from the Big 10 and possible the SEC.

Someone on the C-USA board suggested a possible ND-UofL Liberty bowl. Doubt it happens but the Liberty bowl will atleast try.

Boise St vs UofL seems to be a more interesting and real possiblity then UofL vs the MAC champ.
I agree that the ACC is the key to the MAC getting more than 2 bowl bids.........since it's all conference play now, I'm guessing that they won't have more than 8 teams with a winning record, but I'm not sure "who plays who". But yeah, they will likely be the recipient of all the un-used conference bowl slots leftover. Anybody around here got the time or the inclination to analyze the rest of the remaining ACC schedule??? Okie??? Hey, where's Nert....he likes the details!

If Boise does play UL in the Liberty, then with the MWC being short of teams maybe a MAC team will grab a slot on the blue turf vs. an ACC team! (not sure the attendance for that would be so great, though!)

Does Louisville really want to get spanked by a MAC team again, though?? 03-razz

Seriously, I cannot see the GMAC or MCB accepting that idea.

Umm.......what if Toledo beats Miami, NIU, and BG......then beats Marshall or Akron in the MACC and is 10-2 and ranked in the Top 25? Don't forget about the Rockets in the West!!! 03-razz
The Mac will not get more then 2 bowl bids, nor will kedwards win. Bank on it. 04-rock
