With Maryland's (now 4-6) loss to VT last night, you can scratch one more BCS program from bowl contention. If you look at most of the bowl projections, Maryland was not figured to be bowling anyway, but it does eliminate yet one more possibility for a BCS team.

Now, if So. Carolina can get fired up one last time for ol' Lou vs. Clemson (who is a 3 point favorite), and Utah takes care of business vs. BYU (5-5), the door might start to crack open for that 4th MAC bowl slot. Still need BC to beat Syracuse next weekend as well.
Yup, those are the Big 3. I'm also hoping USF beats Cincy and puts them out. BTW, did you know Cincy is miles past BG and Miami (OH) now since they're moving to the BE.

USF could then lose to Pitt and Memphis. That would be nice.

And MacLord certainly owes Koetter an apology. The Pac 10 is shaping up just like xBCS folls want things: Good teams at the top, and bad teams at the bottom. A minimum of 6-5 teams.
I wondered when you were going to call me out on that! :)

One could say that Koetter has been similar to Snyder in beating a lot of teams he should beat, but not winning the big games (USC, Cal). But what the heck, I'm in a charitable mood. Apologies to Dirk, pending a win over the Cats, of course.

Actually, I saw Snyder very differently.

Snyder seemed to beat some team he wasn't expected to, then he'd lose to a team he should have beat. (1997 ASU is 9-3, they beat UCG but lose to 6-5 BYU. 1994, ASU is 3-8, they beat 10-3 BYU but lose to 6-5 L'ville and 4-7 Cal) Very odd...but it helped him maintain that perfect bell-curve plotting frequency of no of wins/season.

And yes, let's hope for a win over the uofa wildcats.
