Interesting perspective on the conference from a departing member's beat writer...

It actually scares me to think of how this will affect recruiting to my favorite Ohio MAC team with another BCS team in the state. I have already seen some good recruits head that way because of the knowledge of the Big East affiliation.

I know this wasn't the point for your post, but these are my thoughts.
It's kind of amazing when you think about it that the state of Ohio....as big and football passionate as it is, has only had 1 BCS team all these years.

As bad as the Big East has been though this year, they might become mid-major in the near future anyway.
the writer's description is accurate of any non bcs conference.. the Mac.. CUSa.. wac ect are considered 2nd tier..

I agree. That's a real possibility.

I think Big East schools ought to be forced to compete with the rest of our leagues for a shot at one of the BCS bowls.

I'd guarantee two bids to leagues (and teams) outside of the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, SEC and Pac 10 and let the chips fall where they may.
