Most are rooting against 'cuse and rooting against Northwestern, BUT we need one of them to win to complete the MCB.

IF 'Cuse and Northwestern both had lost, who would fill opposite the MAC team? Troy?

Now if Northwestern loses, we get a Big East team, presumably 'Cuse.

If Northwestern wins, we would get either Minnesota or Northwestern.

BC is now done, stick in the fork. 'Cuse scored again.
Just got back from the BG Bradley game (great win by the Falcons by the way 81-66. I like our team this year!). Coach Brandon and Cole were at the game and as I was walking out I caught a bit of the conversation. Coach Brandon pretty much said that BG's bowl hopes probably hinge on the NW Hawaii game. He told they may or may not get a bowl. I think Coach Brandon knows something we don't if he believes NW Hawaii is the key to BGs bowl chances. Go Warriors!!!!
As I understand it, BE has 5 bowls and 5 eligilbe now, BUT ND is considered a BE eligible for bowl bids (other than BCS). That counts as 6 teams.

I believe UConn is going to the Continental Bowl opposite UNC.

I'd assume 'Cuse would come to MCB if Northwestern loses tonight.

I'd assume George Perles (MCB honcho) will do one of his gigs (like try to move the MCB up to 1M+ to entice ND).

ND would probably add 10 - 15K to the MCB attendance if Perles can get them to come.

Longshot, though.
Reply to Mossmaidi:

Remember that Northwestern is out if they lose tonight to Hawaii.

Hawaii (if they win tonight) would be in or out depending if they win or lose next week vs. Michigan State.

This one, like the '00 election, will not end quickly.

Hang loose for another 7 days.

If only 54 teams were eligible heading into today, I don't understand how the Hawaii-Northwestern game is relevant to Bowling Green. Assume one of those teams becomes eligible, and the number of eligible teams is 58.

I don't see anything else that can happen.

What am I missing?
SF, I don't think NU/Hawaii is particularly important to BG, but it is to the MAC and MCB.

IF 'Cuse had lost and NU lost tonight, the MCB would be a mess.

Now that the MCB is okay, let's hope that we can get 4 MAC teams into bowls.

Do posters prefer Minnesota or Northwestern or a Big East team?
Minnesota.Weak year for the Big East.CUSA was a stronger conference this year. But that will all change soon.
I would guess either Syracuse or maybe Notre Dame (only because they are somewhat close geographically, but Motor City probably doesn't pay enough $ for ND). I think Music City Bowl ($150k more than Motor City Bowl) will take Minnesota.
with it's loss by Northwestern, BT is out of MCB (short one qualifier).

Agreement with Big East is BIG for the MAC.

Probably a good guess. Syracuse is in a 4-way tie for the Big East title, but Notre Dame has to be factored in. If ND gets one of the BE's 4 normal bids, then Syracuse is headed to the MCB at 6-5 with a loss to Temple a couple of weeks ago. 03-puke

If Syracuse gets to one of the BE's 4 normal bids over ND, then ND will probably be INVITED to the MCB. They might not want to take that invite, but I think they will have no choice.
No way does ND go to the MCB. These are the same guys that play on NBC week after week even in their down years.

It will more than likely be Syracuse, although, (correct me if I'm wrong) thought I heard on the radio yesterday that they have a chance at a BcS bowl. Is that true?

Never mind...just read the answer in RF's post.
If Pittsburgh loses to South Florida next week (could happen because Pitt only beat Furman by 3 in OT at home earlier this year) and Syracuse finishes higher than Pitt in the rankings, then Syracuse gets the BCS bowl bid.

I'm sorry, but the Big East is no better than the MAC, C-USA, MWC, and WAC. They do not deserve an automatic BCS Bowl bid when their team will probably not be ranked and will probably get slammed by Utah.
