We all remember what happened on Sepmber 20, 2003. NIU beat Alabama, Toledo beat Pittsburgh, Marshall beat Kansas State, BGSU held tough against the defending national champion Ohio State, and Miami beat the defending Mountain West Champion Colorado State, all in one day.
Of course the "experts" claimed that all those MAC opponents must have been overrated.
The MAC could actually top that achievement, with five bowl games comming up this year. I wonder if the "experts" (Craig James) will claim that any of the MAC bowl opponents are overrated? :rolleyes:
It was actually 10/20/2003, not 12/20/2003.
Craig James, MArrk Maye, and all of these other ANALysts can kiss my can. I get so sick of them throwing us (as well as the likes of Utah and Boise) backhanded compliments, only to turn around 30 seconds later and say we can't hang with the best.
You tell me that Miami couldn't have played with a top-5 team in a bowl game last year. I say you're crazy. Take away the Iowa loss the first game of the season and the Redhawks are in as good as, if not better, shape as this year's Utah team.
That punk on SI.com is already spouting what we are likely to hear: This is just evidence that there are way too many bowl games, blah blah blah.
The short-sighted media will still try to minmize the MAC, but the tide is turning despite them.

There is a trophy awarded for the best performance in bowls by a conference.
The stipulation is you must have at least 3 (4?) bowl invites.
Well now, while I think it's a tough road, the MAC would certainly turn some heads if they could win this puppy.
