First off, I have no doubt about UT fans packing Ford Field for the MCB vs. UCCONN......I suspect they'll have 20K Rocket fans there easy. (and I think UCONN will travel well, too).

For the bowls further away, I look for NIU to take the most fans by far, followed by BG or maybe perhaps Marshall. If Miami ends up in the SVB, unfortunately the likely opponent (Troy) isn't going to cause a lot of excitement, but as DG pointed out in a different thread, we have a fairly goodly number of alums out on the West Coast, and I think we'll have 3 or 4 thousand on hand. If Akron (or anyone else) gets the Hawaii nod, there won't be many fans going but then again no team from the continental U.S. takes many fans out there.

So, my guess (based on the most likely bowl scenarios):
1) Toledo (MCB): 20K plus
2) NIU (Ind): 8K
3) BG (GMAC): 5-6K
4) Herd (Ft Worth): 4-5K
5) Miami (SVB): 3-4K

I am a Toledo fan, and speaking to many in attendance last night at the MACC. Quite a few said they will be watching the MCB on tv.
Not much interest in a UCONN matchup and...perhaps more importantly for some...even less in another trip to Ford Field.
Although personally I think it is a fantastic venue.

My wife truly hoped we lost because she wanted to go to the bowl in Shreveport, LA. I don't blame her really but the MACC championship is very important in terms of recruiting so I had to root for the win first and foremost. And for bragging rights associated with being champion. And its great for the players.

if you guys will remember the big discusion a few months back about the MACC being played in Detroit, looks like it will be like we thought it would be. what a dumb move to play a bowl and the MACC on the same field a few weeks apart.

NIU if they are in the INDY bowl because we will be playing OK ST and we have not been to a bowl in 20 years.

I also recall some of your fellow travelers predicting a crowd of 10,000 or worse for the MACC.

We'll see how the bowl goes.

I think the attendance record set last year will stand. Connecticut ain't a Big Ten team.

But the size of the crowd won't slip to the size of those when we were inviting Cincinnati.

That's my take.

But Connecticut IS playing it's first bowl game ever...they may bring a larger corowd than expected.

I'm not predicting the fall of any records...just throwing my $0.02 in.

I agree. To put butts in seats, it appears the Motor City wanted Connecticut over Syracuse. I think they chose wisely.
My take:

UConn - 8 - 10K (and that ain't bad since we are talking plane or train, not car or bus).

UT - 15K this is the car or bus crowd.

15K - none of the above - locals, h.s. kids, bands, boy scouts, boys clubs, etc.

I'm predicting, 38, 573 plus or minus a few...
03-wink

UT should get 15K, like, it is a short afternoon car ride, pack up a few friends, get 5 gallons of gas, split the parking fee, and go.

Why aren't you as a MAC and EMU fan buying your tickets?

I can rattle off about 10 games I have attended in the last 7 seasons that were MAC games in which my team did not participate.

Most were games involving Marshall. Like the early MCB games and several Marshall/BG matchups.

I must be a closet Marshall fan...

But anyway, no reason anyone from SE Michigan can't make a trip for some good football to Detroit and support his conference and the league's most supportive bowl partner.

I live about an hour west of Detroit, and I won't be going....of course, I will be in Florida on Vacation. Is that a valid reason 03-wink

That is sad to hear, but that is just the opposite of what I am hearing.

And as for UCONN, they sold 3200 tickets on the first day that they went on sale at their University. They have never been to a bowl game before and they are totally excited about this game. They averaged just over 40K at home games this year, but I am really expecting between 10-15K of UCONN fans there.
I predict BG will have 2K max at the GMAC. No way are they going to draw 5-6K.
RR
We took 5500 to Oklahoma, I see no reason why we shouldn't draw more in Mobile. We have a pretty strong Alumni base in the south.

You got some proof on that? I can't see OU selling 5,500 tix to an opposing team.

2K is probably right for BG. Toledo should end up having the best turn out by far because of location. I couldnt guess what everyone will bring but lets hope everyone brings a lot of fans and does well.
i doubt we'll bring more than 3k with us to sanjose, i mean we're playing f****** troy for god sakes

I think NIU would be LUCKY to get 1000 to the game.
I don't agree.....I think NIU will sell a very respectable amount of tickets.

I see where the Herd have sold 700 tickets, of which half were purchased to give away.....they have a 10K guarantee to Fort Worth. Haven't heard about any other MAC programs.

Just enjoy the trip out to California and watch a good RUTSing of Troy, then spend an extra day or two taking in the sights of San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Sorry, but I find it hard to dig deep down and sympathise with the few ungrateful Huskie fans I'm seeing. Sure, Troy ain't exactly a dream opponent, but a gig in San Jose (extra practice time, TV exposure, nice location) isn't bad for a team that didn't win the division.

It's all perspective, I suppose.

As for the MCB, I'll likely be there.

is that (giving Herd/Cincy bowl tixs) anyway to thank our military? 03-wink

I could see tixs to BG/Memphis or L'ville vs. BSU or Orange Bowl, but a game between two 6-5 non-BCS teams and one of them have a lame QB. (don't think Gino is playing for Cincy).

I like to refer to this game as the "Moving-On" game (maybe U-Haul should sponser). Herd - Moving on; Cincy moving on and the bowl game is probably moving on (it is in Fort Worth which used to be a C-USA city, and now will Move-on to being a MWC city).
