A Rocket fan made a post on their board in the holiday spirit, about their "Christmas gift" - beating BG, winning the MAC, possible bowl win. That's all well and good. Who could begrudge them that?
Then they go on to say that what they want next is for UT and NIU to keep BG out of the championship game so that we have our "best QB ever" and no title, leaving "crying and whining Falcon fans everywhere."
Number 1, I don't want NIU to keep Bancroft Correctional Center out of the MACC. I want the Falcons to do that. Second, I don't want to deny the Phallus the MAC title because of someone on their roster. I want to deny them the title because I want BG to have it instead.
I know that all Toledo fans do not envy BG, as some speculate. But a post like this certainly feeds that image.

It boggle my mind that a BUGS fan could be delusional enough to think that even a single Rocket fan is envious of anything BG has to offer. I can't think of anything to be envious of.

UT has more success on the field. We tend to own you in hoops. Comparing campuses is like comparing apples to pigs#it. Academics, depending on what you're interested in learning, are basically a wash.
I suppose if one were a huge fan of tractor pulls and were too lazy to drive 30 minutes... :rolleyes:

For the record, I think people from both sides of the rivalry tend to go a little overboard with this sort of stuff, though I guess that's the nature of a rivalry. I see posts like the one that started this thread and it makes me shake my head. That being said, I've seen posts on AZZ along the same lines (just reversing the schools, of course), and it still makes me shake my head.
I have no envy for Toledo or its athletics and wouldn't expect you to have any envy for BG or its athletics.
As for comparing campuses and academics, that's why Baskin Robbins makes 31 flavors.
As for the tractor pull comment :rolleyes: C'mon, you've got to do better than that.

I have to admit that back in 95 when I was deciding which college to go to I had to consider BG only because they had my major and UT didn't. my decision was between BG and EMU.... I chose EMU and you want to know why (and this may sound petty to some people but to me when I was 17 it meant a lot...) I was in the marching band and I didn't want to have to wear pumpkin and poop uniforms.... That was basically the reason behind my decision. That and the fact that I got to live on campus if I went to EMU but my parents wouldn't let me live in BG....
I spent a year at EMU (when their teams were actually good... Charlie Batch almost got us to the Vegas Bowl... Damn Rockets had to go and beat us :D and Earl Boykins and the boys got us to the 2nd round of the NCAA's by beating Dook...) But then realized that I wanted to be a Rocket so I came back to Toledo and finished up my degree.
I find it very interesting that they think that we have "falcon envy" because one of us posts that he would like to see us and NIU keep Bugs out of the MACC. Does he not realize that essentially for us to make it there again next year, we are possibly going to need help from another team? We really don't care if it is NIU or CMU or EMU or WMU or BSU.... We just need bugs to loose to another team...
Also I find it funny that most of the posters over there can't even bring themselves to type TOLEDO.. They refer to us as "little Detroit" or "That school up north". At least we make an attempt at getting their name right... sometimes my fingers slip and I type in bugs instead of bgsu... oops..
I guess we can honestly say that if you are a fan of any other MAC school, until next season starts, you have ROCKET ENVY since We have what they want!!!!!!!!

As for keeping BG out of the title game, you're mixing two messages. My point was that the initial poster seemed more interested in BG
NOT being in the title game than with Toledo
BEING in the game. I don't want Toledo be kept out of the title game by NIU being there. I want BG to be in the title game. Period. The rest is just details.
I think you actually missed the reason he made that comment about keeping bugs out of the championship game is the fact that a lot of your posters thing of Omar as possibly being better than Josh Harris and he simply said he would like to see Omar not have a chance at playing for the MACC.

I don't think it really has to be SAID that we want UT in the title game every year, I think we all pretty much understand that we are going to hope for our team to make it there but what he is implying is that we can't do it alone. We need help from another school and right now the only other school that we can "depend" on is NIU.... but don't get me wrong, it would probably be much sweeter if bugs were to be beaten by an EMU, CMU or WMU team.... That would just be icing on the cake....

I have no Falcon envy!!!Do I delight in seeing BG fans' frustration, blaming everyone and his brother when they lose-Yes!!!It is a very good possibility that the Rockets will keep the Falcons from a title the next couple of years-Yes.I find it funny the acclaim that went up for Omar's All-American status on the BG board when two Rockets were also mentioned including the Rocket's QB.The only true SI All-Americans from the MAC are Goddard and EMU's kicker. Lance Moore is actually an Academic All- American, which is truly an honor for him and the University.The Rockets future is bright. I have no Falcon envy or love.I take great pleasure in Rocket victory!!!

I am sure that very, very few falcon fans know much, if anything about the Peregrine Falcon. IMO, it is one of the most awesome animals, pound for pound. That being said, I am not nor are any of my Rocket friends, envious of your "falcon." It is apparent, however; that many falcon fans are envious of our "Rockets." *sticks book in front of zipper* :eek:
