TBA in about a month(?)
Interesting.

One thing I find kind of amusing is this: the A-10 had such a successful year in Div IAA football this year that I don't really think Temple can compete there right now either.
OK, so let's say: Temple to the MAC East in 2006. That once again makes this an expansion thread 03-banghead and raises the question: who would the MAC add to balance the divisions? 04-drinky

Memphis. :D
Temple would make a nice replacement for Kent State after they're declassified.....

I'd like to see Temple FB in 2006 with the basketball on board by 2008 in time for next MAC TV deal.
If the move is from 12 to 14, I'd like the idea of trying to go after UMass the biggest Division 1 school in the East without Division 1-A football.

Another to be considered is Delaware who is a big rival of Temple and a UD-Temple series would be big for both schools.

The voices in my head say -

Delaware or Illinois State.

UMass or Southern Illinois.

No one or nobody

Someone or something

Make it stop!
I think we should go and any other team that hasn't won a football title since we did. Damn bottom feeders. 03-lol OU's last football title was...????

Sorry, kitty, I know you would like to get rid of your athletic superiors, but the MAC will not lose its best athletic program. You do know the conference actually makes real NCAA dollars on basketball, don't you? Maybe if OU would pull its weight sometime and not waste its revenue on overpaying coaches who can't win...

Ouch! 03-lol :rolllol: :bluethumb:
Screw Temple.

They’re the reason Pitt is playing in a BCS bowl this year. Temple should have been kicked out of the Big East before this season started.

OK, I'll bite: what is the logic behind your argument?

Now, ax, try to show more compassion for Kit Cat. Lokk what he has to deal with. He trumps OU's superior caoch staffing capability. Then he has to deal with the facts :

1)We have a hungry head basketball coach found waaaaay under the radar, even out of coaching for two years, running rings around the highly touted OU coach on every measure you want to count: recruiting, talent development, team development. Actually lapping him. Oh, yeah, and don't forget to count wins, MAC East titles, post season appearances. And we never have to say " Maybe this is the year J.C. figures it out."

2) We have Bobcat legend, Geno Ford, developing the exceptional raw talent J.C. recruited over the last two years - educating them on how to win in MAC basketball. Now if you had to think about, say Trevor Huffman, schooling young Bobcats about how to win in MAC basketball, wouldn't you want to 03-puke ?

You're right...in all probability we're not going anywhere and the MAC doesn't want us to go anywhere...but it's the season* to show some compassion for those less fortunate.

*hoops season
Ax and FF,

You guys were much wittier and classy in you response to KK. I had an initial response run through my head that probably would have gotten me banned from the board. I really need to start using the ignore function. 03-banghead
I think Kit-Cat has been throwing stones inside his glass house again. OU's hasn't had anything to brag about in football in over 30 years. Personally I like having Kent St. in the conference.
I don't want to see any school drop football but I just don't see how Temple to the MAC makes sense. They don't draw for NAME schools and couldn't recruit a team that could have finished #1 or #2 in either division of the MAC with the advantage of being on TV more in a name conference. Even if they played a few basketball games against MAC schools would that offset the hassle of being at 13? Finding a 14th is a long-shot at best, probably a I-AA wanting to move up but if they are coming from a football league they would need a basketball home as well, which puts the MAC into a 13 team situation in hoops, unless a non-football member is added.

But the alternative is probably Temple dumping football and that's not good for anyone.

Temple will replace Ohio in 2006........when Ohio's flagship (Ohio U.) drops the MAC to join the SEC.

I wouldn't accept that downgrade.

Although we have a nice budding rivalry with Kentucky....

Well, look at it this way, it gives Buffalo a good chance at least winning one game a year in football. 03-razz

With Temple:

Syracuse – 4-2 in conference
Pittsburgh – 4-2 in conference (wins four-way tie)

Without Temple:

Pittsburgh/WVU/BC - 3-2 in conference
Syracuse - 4-1 in conference

If Temple had been kicked out of the BE before this season, then Syracuse would have won the Big East outright.
