We have an Indiana fan (good guy) on AZZ.com who was initially inquiring about Brandon for the IU position. He then continued to give us updates on the coaching search.

He posted early this morning about their probable new coach.

Hoeppner?

True? I would be very shocked by this. I thought Hoeppner was going to be a lifer at Miami.
I just checked out hawktalk. Looks to be true.

Wow. All the best to coach Hepp. Good luck at Indiana.

Again, wow.
That would be great for the MAC. Hoeppner is an anchor on Miami (OH).
I thought Terry was smarter than that. It will be three years and retirement for him...
Talked to an inside IU source and it is true.
It appears to be true. Hoepp has talked to the players. Evidentily, he will coach in the bowl game.

Well, probably a mistake going to Indiana but he is more than likely thinking about the money only.

This is good news for Miami though. You can keep Shane Montgomery now because I bet he becomes your head coach.

Actually, this might be worse for the rest of the MAC. :(
Another name thats been thrown out by a very reliable NIU poster is Bob Elliot DC at Kan ST
Combine threads: How about Spence to Miami (OH)?

That might make life very interesting.

I agree.

Is Randy Walker available?

It would be interesting but won't happen. Spence doesn't want to be a head coach. I am afraid we will lose him this off-season, but as an OC not a head coach somewhere.
Are there any internal candidates to replace Hoep?

Narduzzi?

(I was kinda thinking he might have been a good name for when Joe retires)
Indiana?

That's not a step up from Miami. IU football is terrible and Hoeppner won't improve it.

Yes, since Indiana football was on the tip of everyone's tounge this past year....

If you consider Indiana big time because they're BCS, then perhaps we should consider Rutgers, UConn, Iowa State, Vandy, and Duke big time football also then.

I just think he had more opportunities for success at Miami.......but I guess the money was much better at IU.
In the end, it usually it "about the money", but you also have to remember than Hoeppner was born and raised in Indiana. So, I can see the fit although it's a much riskier job than Miami.

Maybe that's what he wants. 3 years coaching in the Big 10 is a pretty good pension plan.
