8:15 left, 1st half: Detroit 25, WMU 18
Flashes up by eight at the half, but the other Notre Dame is shooting the lights out.
Toledo and WMU pullout wins. Kent State gets a 16 point win against a team playing its first ever DI school (a bit disappointing) and BSU loses to Butler.
I went to the Butler game at Hinkle and I can't begin to tell you how frustrating that loss was. Our sophomore guards (Mills and Stovall) have a lot to learn about bringing it every minute of every game. You can't think you can show up with 7 minutes to go and pull it out. Hinkle is literally one of the toughest places to play in the midwest, but this is a game that was ours if we play anywhere near 40 minutes instead of maybe 10 to 12.

We let a freshman guard who was averaging around 10 ppg light us up for 29!!! We gave up layup after layup to a very predictable offense. Our senior guard showed little leadership.

OTOH, the positives I take from this game are that Chapman is a stud and he is now showing up for every game. He will be a real force in the MAC.

Our project 7 footer, Anthony Kent, is looking better and better every game.

We didn't quit. Down 15 at the half AT Butler and we clawed back to within 3 with around 1:30 to go.

I think our guards may have finally learned that you've got to show up for the first half and play 40 minutes. Ultimately these OOC games are about learning, but Butler is our biggest rival by far and it sucks losing to them.

Finally, our 6'10 transfer from Ohio State, who I know a lot of you think is a bad player (I happen to know better), was dressed for the game. I have a feeling he'll still end up redshirting this year, but it was nice to finally see him in uni.

Geez, I hope we beat *Bloomington State University* next week!
