Tonight:
(1/5)
Ohio 7:00
Ball State
The worst road team in the MAC vs. a team very tough at home on an uptick. Could be ugly, but the Card don't often blow teams out.

Eastern Michigan 7:00
Kent State
Big game so early. We'll see if EMU is for real if they can match the Flashes coming-off-a-loss intensity tonight. We may not play well, but the Hureagles better be ready to bang and scrap. This would be a statement win for EMU.

Northern Illinois 7:00
Miami
NIU is playing surprisingly well, but this is a tough one. These teams seem to trade home wins. Miami can't afford to lose here and I don't think they will. CC will have them ready after the UC debacle. Another tough loss for the Huskies.

Thursday (1/6)
Akron 7:00
Toledo
Losing Wood is immeasurable. Zips might play on emotion for a few games but you cna't lose your best player and survive this year in the MAC. Rockets get a chance to stop the hemorrhaging.

Buffalo 7:00
Central Michigan
Schedule maker not kind for the Bulls. This will be tougher than they want. CMU is gaining confidence and the Bulls are shaky. Interesting game.

Bowling Green 7:00
Marshall
Marshall really not as bad as we like to chuckle about. Have played some decent ball at times and are tough at home. BG will not shoot lights out like they did at home vs. UB. If Herd keeps turnovers down (Hamilton) and rotates some athleticism on Reimhold, they can break through. Problem is, BG is playing very solidly beyond their talent, which is what good Dakich teams do.

Some good Saturday games coming up, too. Maybe get to those later: might be "Winter Storm"-ed in today. 04-rock

Are you sure about the kickoff times?
I thought the football season was now
officially over? 03-wink

Now you're going to get Axeme all confused...he'll think it is mid-September.

There was a football season?

I suppose in DeKalb the entire athletic dept. shuts down after the last football game.
As for the times, consult your local listings--all times E.S.T. 03-wink

Yeah. MAC did pretty well.
If you're good, we'll tell you
all about it. Got to do something
this winter. :D

You will have to tell me about it.
Last I heard, we were the worst D-1A conference in the country and got stuck playing a bunch of lousy teams in the prelim bowl games.
Guess we must have done pretty well then in the bowls, huh?
Who'd we beat?

Well, the MAC had five (5) bowl teams.

NIU whooped up on the TSU Trojans (who beat Mizzou)
in the profitable Silicon Valley Bowl that sold about 30%
more tickets than last year when it featured UCLA vs
nearby Fresno State.

Posters from the other bowl teams can tell their respective
team's story.

Well, congratulations on beating Tennessee State! 04-bow
And I'm very impressed that the bowl committees had the discriminating taste to select 5 MAC teams over the dozens of other teams I'm sure they could have selected! :D
Well, Akron did get screwed.

And, Tennessee State is the Tigers. We used the
Trojans. There's a difference.
To re-track this thread, here are the betting lines on tonight's games (current RPI in parentheses):

MIAMI(76) -10 vs. NIU (89)

BALL ST.(126) -8 1/2 vs. Ohio (141)

KENT STATE(19) -13 vs. EMU (231)

Takers?
Go Huskies!

Rain of 3s.
what exactly is the point of this thread?...you guys are talking basketball and football and then talk about "losing wood and using trojans"...damn I'm confused. 03-lol

Axe, your capping prowess was displayed brilliantly in MAC football. Are we going to start a MAC Hoops betting tournament ? If need be, I'll run it.

BTW, the lines have moved:

N. Ill. @ Miami (-9)
Ohio @ Ball St. (-7)
E. Mich @ Kent St. (-11)

If I was a betting man, and I am, I would take Ball St. (-7). I'm also leaning E. Mich and the (11) but might put them in a teaser cause I'm going to the game tonight.

B)
I'll take Ball State (-7) and Eastern Michigan (+11).
I'll bet all three teams easily cover the spread...if BSU and OU even play tonight.

Take the Flashes minus the points over EMU. This team underachieves huge on the road...losses to Detroit and Montana. 03-banghead
Kevin Warzinski, our PF, has three 3's and another basket.
17-8 Flashes. Boller has all of EMU's points.
