CFN's early predictions for 2005 are a complete joke:

Toledo - 58
Northern Illinois - 62
Miami University - 67

They also have Kent State #90 and Akron #94. The only MAC school that they will list in the Top 57 will be Bowling Green.

You may be shocked to hear this from me but I agree. They've also got Marshall at #88 and I seriously think we'll be better than that next year. As for those 3 you've got listed:

Toledump brings back a very potent offense and, if their defense can improve, should end up in the top 25. NIU is always a bit of a question mark but they should contend for the MAC West before pulling their "I'm Toledump's *****" routine and choking it away again. Miami (OH) went through a rebuilding year after losing Ben Jacobjingleheimerschmidt and I think they'll rebound nicely next year.

I noticed that even Trev Albert, the biggest BCS apologist of them all, admitted that the non-BCS schools were closing the gap. He had no choice after Utah humiliated Pitt. CFN is still hung up on BCS schools but, as the gap continues to close, even they will have to come on board eventually.

As I've said before, reputations are built over many years and not over one season. When Oklahoma was having its down years, it took 4 or 5 years before the pundits quit ranking them in the pre-season top 20. Similarly, once they started their rebound, it took 4 or 5 years before the pundits started putting them back into the pre-season polls.

This does look more like a summary of how the 2004 season ended.

Anyway, who cares much? It's too far away to be meaningful.

Things are looking very up for the MAC. We'll surprise a few folks again.
CFN has never been kind to mid majors unless they run the table.

I have just stopped visiting their site all together.

Northern is far better that #62
Toledo always solid should be 20 positions or so higher than now.
Miami same league as Toledo.
119) Buffalo

BS...I have nothing to really prove this...But i think we start to establish ourselves as a legit football team next year. I just have a good feeling. If not, at least our coaches contract is up.
64. Illinois

What a joke! How could HORRIBILE TEAM be only 2 spots behind us? Pathetic!
