Stumbled on this, where a college hockey writer argues Miami's campus is the most beautiful in the CCHA.

<a href='http://www.collegesports.com/sports/m-hockey/stories/111104aae.html' target='_blank'>http://www.collegesports.com/sports/m-hock.../111104aae.html</a>

O is for Oxford, Ohio, the city with the most beautiful campus in the CCHA. Tucked in the southwest corner of the state, a trip to Oxford reminds one of a small New England town. The buildings on the campus of Miami all have the same 19th century style and architecture. The athletic facilities are first-rate, especially with the new ice arena on the way. Although a bit difficult to find (the nearest expressway is a half-hour trip), Miami has a campus all CCHA fans should visit.

The CCHA includes:

MAC: Miami, Western Michigan, Bowling Green
Big Ten: Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State
GLIAC: Lake Superior State, Northern Michigan, Ferris State
Others: Notre Dame, Nebraska-Omaha, Alaska-Fairbanks

Of the ones on that list that I have seen, it is easily the nicest.

To say Miami's campus is prettier than Michigan's is saying something in my book.

I've seen both, and I won't argue.

Michigan does not hold a candle To The Michigan State University Campus. Miami still wins.
I agree...I would place Miami ahead of MSU. IMO, Michigan's is overrated. Michigan State's is pretty, especially the coed's on MAC Ave.
UAF has a really nice setting, arguably the nicest scenery of any university from up on the hill, but the campus itself is not very outstanding. However you will find reindeer and musk ox on the campus in case CE was planning on expanding anytime soon.

Nothing like a musk ox to keep you warm on an arctic night. Or maybe that was a Inuit woman? Hard to tell the difference.
I went to Miami, and naturally think it's a beautiful campus, but "beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder", and there are many lovely campuses around the U.S....some I've seen in person include the afore-mentioned Michigan State, and I'd throw in North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, Indiana, Cal San Diego (the one near Torrey Pines), AFA (the scenery and mountains even if hte architecture there is a tad futuristic for your taste) and Stanford just to name a few. I haven't been to any of the Ivy League and New England schools, but I'm sure they are some neat ones there as well.

There are some great smaller campuses as well like Furman, Dennison, Wittenberg, Hanover (Ind) and no doubt countless others I've never seen.

As far as the MAC goes, even though Muncie is kind of a cr@ppy town, Ball State is a nice campus, and so is WMU's and OU's. Some of you may laugh, but I think for a relatively urban setting, Toledo has a very nice campus.
Oops, I thought this thread was about the campus with the best-looking women. 03-razz

I've spent a lot of time in Fairbanks, and it's a pit. I agree about the wildlife thing -- you have to love a campus where you have to be careful of the moose. Still, the buildings are nondescript -- probably by nature, because I'm sure the architecture has to be able to withstand the extreme weather.
I've been to OU, Miami, UB, CMU, and Akron. I'd have to say OU has the best looking campus, I like the river running through it.

Does OU play hockey in that league?

OU plays "Club Hockey". Hockey without scholarships. Its ran by an association called the ACHA, and has many Division 1 schools participating. Ohio University is the defending national champion of ACHA Division 1 Hockey.

Our conference is the CSCHL, "Central States Collegiate Hockey League".

Members:

Eastern Michigan
Illinios
Iowa State
Ohio
Michigan-Dearborn
Kent State
Robert Morris
Western Michigan

The 2004-2005 season marks the 35th season for the Central States Collegiate Hockey League. Over the years, the size of the league has varied. The CSCHL has nine full-time members, making it, arguably, the finest American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 hockey league in the country, including the 2004 ACHA Division 1 National Champions from Ohio University! Over the past eleven seasons, CSCHL teams have won five ACHA National Championships and have had a team in the Championship game 8 times. The 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons saw a record-tying 6 CSCHL teams qualify for the ACHA Division 1 National Championships

Ohio University would like to express an interest in your future as a student-athlete. Ohio gives you the combination of superior academics coupled with an outstanding hockey program. The Ohio University Hockey Team currently competes at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I level. The team has consistently been involved in post-season play at the National Championship Tournament. In addition to their 2004 National Championship, the Bobcats won 3 National Championships in the 1990's. Also, the team competes as a member of the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL). The CSCHL currently contains 5 of the top 8 ACHA teams in the nation producing an extremely competitive schedule.

Ohio University has a very picturesque and colorful campus that offers you an attractive option for your choice in schools. With nearly 26,000 students, Ohio University provides a wide variety of academics. However, the school retains a small school atmosphere, which prohibits the student from becoming lost in the crowd. Recently Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine conducted a study examining 580 four year colleges and universities from across the country. This study ranked OU 38th in the national ranking for top values at state universities. This coupled with a retention rate far above the national average has produced a superior academic institution. Business, Engineering and Journalism are just a few of the strong programs that attract students from around the world.

Ohio was also a charter member of the CCHA along with ... if memory serves... Bowling Green, Lake Superior State, St. Louis and Ohio State.

Ohio dropped out after the first year I think. St. Louis went maybe ten years before finally giving up the sport.
OU and Miami are both very nice...I'd give the nod to Miami. I have such fond meories of nailing my ex girlfriend in her room at Porter Hall.....Unfortuantely, a number of guys have a similar set of memories... 03-razz
I think OU has the nicest campus in the MAC. Ball State's campus is also nicer than many give it credit for...very good landscaping. I think Miami's campus is nice, but overrated.
