After 32 years of being on this Earth, I had no idea there was an Athens, Ohio, an Athens, Georgia, and hell I didn't even knew there was a country named Greece, lil lone there capitol is Athens. I thought when people said Greece, they meant the movie.~laying sarcasm on real thick~
Interesting Facts:

To compare Athens, OH and GA to Greece is a farce.

There is also a Rome, NY., Naples, FL., Paris, Tex., London, Ontario, Berlin, Wisc., Manchester, NH., Bethlehem, Penn., Amsterdam, NY., Moscow, ID., St. Petersburg, FL., Cairo, GA.,

To add to the Athens comparisons...isn't Boston often referred to as the "Athens of America"????
There is a Toledo, Spain and a Toledo, Ohio. In Toledo, Spain they run away from bulls. In Toledo, Ohio they run all over the Bulls. 03-wink

Actually, the Running of the Bulls takes place in Pamplona, Spain. Pamplona is in northern Spain not far for the french border. Toledo is a little south of Madrid and is known for sword making.

Funny story... I once worked for a lady that was the Night Editor for WOWK TV and she told me of this story that they did about Big Ugly. Well, they were doing the interview and the reporter on location was talking about what happened and then had to cut to an interview with the Mayor. The reporter intro'd the interview by saying "according to the Big Ugly Mayor...."

Maybe I'm just drunk, but this might be the funniest thread ever 03-lol

Ohio has some interesting pronounciations to some of their cities:

Galipolis (gali-police)

Mentor (menner)

Medina (med-eye-na)

Columbus (THE-Ohio-State-University)

Cincinnati (armpit)

I thought that was Findlay. I don't remember a Cooper Tire plant in Athens.

And Rightupinthere, don't forget Versailles (Ver-say-uhls), OH.

Interesting, I didn't realize Ohio had moved the state capital back down to Athens.

Ok, am I missing the joke here? A Toledo fan has to know that O$U is in Columbus.

Hmm... I still didn't realize that Ohio had only 1 state university. I think that is absolutely pathetic that O$U has to try to make themselves feel like no. 1 by emphasizing a "the" in front of it.

If there ever were an armpit of Ohio, it would have to be Cleveland. I mean, the city smells like sh@t and it is dirty as all hell! That takes a lot because I wouldn't exactly consider Cincinnati the best smelling and cleanest city in America. Hell, even Dayton (where I live) is better than Cleveland.

VERSAILLES!

There was another which I was trying to remember. It was bugging the heck out of me.

Thankee, brother. I don't have to ponder that issue any longer.*
