Boone should be fired after this year. This team had all that hype and look at them. After a 2-0 start....they faded fast.
I have to agree. This season has been a major disappointment. There is no excuse for this team performing as badly as they have. Five years into the Boone regime and he has yet to have a winning season and this year is fading fast. One of our prized recruits has been suspended indefinetly and the players looks both confused and listless on the court.

Boone has attempted to force feed his system of offense and defense onto various players for the past five years. He has shown little ability to adapt his gameplan to the talent he has. In other words, he does not try to gameplan to their strong suit, just tries to keep forcing the proverbial square pegs into the round holes. Every game teams just light up EMU pouring in three pointers from players left wide open on the wing. We turn ordinary players into superstars for a night.

Look at Charlie Coles at Miami. The guy continues to do well because nearly every year he changes his schemes to fit his players. He can adapt.

Boone is in over his head. We have suffered for five years. It's time to end our misery. This season has been an abysmal failure. We all thought this was finally the year the program started to reach the heights we once attained in the '90s when we had such tremendous success. I feel that we have good athletes who can more than hold their own in the MAC. We have great facilities for basketball...better than those in Ann Arbor for cyring out loud. No more excuses.

I dare you to go <a href='http://www.miamihawktalk.com/discussion/viewforum.php?f=3' target='_blank'>HERE</a> and say that! 03-lol

Well, I would take Charlie Coles over Jim Boone any day. Afer watching Miami defeat us at home by 10 I saw genuine coaching strategies in action. Timely time-outs, set plays were called based upon the defense we were employing. Boone was thoroughly out-coached that night and Coles absolutely schooled him.
You guys just can't seem to have any luck with any sport. That and you guys have hardly and fan support. I was at the EMU-NIU football game, and you guys could have won that easily. As for BBall, I'm thinking that you're right, Boones needs to be fired. He hasn't helped your program at all. He sure isn't helping the MAC either.
Garrett Wolfe hangs 325 yards on them, and THEY had an excellent chance to win the game? Keep dreaming. I suppose you were one of the BG fans Comcast interviewed during the game saying BG was going to kill Toledo the next week too. 04-drinky

Before you get too deep into the "pity poor EMU" routine, 05-nono let's remember that the baseball team went to the NCAA Tournament 2 seasons ago. The track and field teams have 15 outdoor championships and 9 consecutive indoor championships in the MAC and send their members to the Olympics. Swimming and Diving has 24 MAC championships since 1978. Cross country has 10 MAC championships.

Yesterday they raised the 2004 MAC women's basketball championship banner in the Convo Center. The women's track teams has 11 outdoor MAC championships since 1982.

As for support. If we parked any other MAC school six miles from a Big Ten university they'd have similar problems. There's barely enough media spotlight for the UofM, EMU doesn't get much notice or much credit in the area. It's a challenge, but there is no help for it.

Well they were doing okay the first half, the second half, I'll admit, they gave up and you guys ran all over them. Literally.

I'm not saying you guys have no support, just not enough, your students need to realize Ann Arbor is A) a whore, B) useless, and C) not the school they attend. Unfortunatley a lot of people just look at either mens' BBall or football, not really taking into consideration those other sports.

Can't argue with that!
I attended and have degrees from both EMU and Michigan. There are folks over in Ann Arbor that couldn't even tell you where EMU is located. That having been said, however, EMU and Michigan play each other in lots of sports because of the limited travel involved. Eastern does well against them in track and field and some of the other minor sports. Michigan also plays them occasionally in football and that gives EMU $500,000 with virtually no expense. Becuase Michigan is overwhelming male populated, it not uncommon to see Michigan male students scouting out the coeds at EMU. Lord knows, the girls that attend Michigan are certainly not known for their good looks.

I haven't seen the 2005 football schedule yet, but I believe EMU opens at Michigan this year. I've seen EMU play against MSU in Spartan Stadium. It's a good thing it's a good payday for the Eagles because these games are not pretty.
EMU did beat DuKe in the NCAA basketball tourney and I'm not sure any other MAC team can make that claim.
EMU, a school I am fond of, has had its up years but more often they stink.
EMU does play Michigan in Ann Arbor this year on September 17. I plan to venture up from Atlanta
to see the game. It will be one of the 12 trips I will take this year around the wonderful, wacky world of collegiate football! I usually stay at the Eagle Crest Mariott in Ypsilanti which is part of EMU's Conference Center on Ford Lake.
