*Three or more MAC schools will once again go bowling. Akron, once again, won't.

*Ball State will have another rough season but will still manage their biannual beating of Toledo on the grass fields of Muncie. I'm thinking this year's big play will be a TD scored by a mute holder on a fake punt.

*Bowling Green will win the MAC East but lose in the MACCG. Dr. Torch will begin the "Fire Brandon" campaign.

*Buffalo will get that elusive 3rd win...provided the Bulls replace Syracuse with a I-AA opponent. The Bulls will lose to Kent but swear that alumnus Josh Cribbs actually returned to suit up at QB.

*CMU will beat EMU in regulation this year in Mt. Pleasant. Fittingly, the Eagles will once again flub a snap and CMU will recover. This time, the officials will not ignore it and claim time-out was called. CMU will also christen Terry Hoeppner's inaugural Big Ten game with a win over Indiana. Jerry Seymour will actually get to take a few snaps off each game.

*With its best RB gone, EMU will wear out the legs of QB Matt Bohnet by midseason. However, that won't stop EMU from beating WMU in Ypsilanti, as the Eagles will return a fumble from (pick a RB) for a TD in the final minute.

*Kent State will go as far as its defense will take it. That amounts to about four wins.

*Miami will fall just short of winning the MAC East but will get its 3rd consecutive bowl bid as consolation. A vitory over Cincinnati will also help soothe the pain.

*The Huskies will play Michigan close for a half before losing by three+ TDs but will beat Northwestern. NIU will fall to Toledo again as Garrett Wolfe misses the game with a mysterious gastrointestinal ailment. NIU fans will claim foul play. As evidence, they will cite a package of cookies from "Amidala Industries" sent from the Houston area to Wolfe two days before the game... 03-puke Amstutz will deny involvement and express outrage that he didn't receive any cookies.

*Ohio will win one of its BC$ OOC games, causing Kit-Cat to start an "Ohio to the Big East" thread. Solich will guide the Bobcats to an improved -- but still losing -- record.

*Toledo will lose a tight MAC West race to NIU despite beating the Huskies. Losses @ Ball State and CMU will hurt. :D

*WMU will celebrate its coaching change by tripling last season's win total but will once again find itself at the bottom of the race for the MI MAC title. 03-razz

Next time Kitkat offers you a cigarette you should decline. :D

Remember, you only beat CMU by five points in Toledo last year. See you in Mt. Pleasant.
I predict if UB gets a QB who can play, they will win 4 games.

We were up by 17 before allowing some late game garbage points...and that was early in the season when the team was struggling to find a defense. We do thank you for helping us find one, though.

Seriously, I expect your new coach will have you in more games next season.
I don't think you can call them "garbage points" when CMU had the ball in Toledo territory in the final minute or so. It's not like you had your 2nd & 3rd string out there for our final drive. We fumbled, sure, but a touchdown would have put us ahead with very little time remaining.

I agree, we'll be in more games this year. With Toledo, EMU, and NIU presumably visiting, we could potentially make some noise in the MAC West this season. :saber:

I do. Toledo was in control of that game throughout. You got garbage points in the 4th and the Rockets let you into the game for the first time that day. CMU never led once and only came close at the end of the 4th. The Rocket D was awful that early in the season.

We almost blew it after handling the Chips rather easily for 3 1/2 quarters. Like I said, your team is going to improve with your current coach, but he didn't have you there this year.

October 23rd was "early" in the season?

PS - "garbage points" don't exist when you only score 27 points. 03-razz

If you say so.

This is exactly why I believe that RUTSing doesn't exist. Not only do the polls punish you for not scoring big, opponents that were soundly beat suddenly get to pretend they almost beat you.

Teams should never let their opponents up off of the mat. Kick them once they're down, and keep on kicking them.

I wish Amstutz would realize this. CMU isn't the only game he let up in the 2nd half, and let the other team make it close. EMU also comes to mind this season, and in past seasons I have seen it happen.

When we are winning 27-10 with 11 minutes left in the game, keep pouring it on because you never know.

Cha-Ching!!!!!!!!! Cha-Ching!!!!!!!!! Cha-Ching!!!!!!!!!
My predictions:

CMU will shut out EMU - 0 to 0 Final

Western will spank them both just like 2003 and most years before. :D

I think EMU and CMU were both quality, underachieving opponents this season. I don't think Toledo let up. Seymour had a great game for CMU not to mention their QB having a career passing day. And EMU just made some critical errors but otherwise could have had a floundering Rocket team up against the ropes. I was really worried about that game after the start to the season Toledo had.

A lot of quaterbacks had career days against us, except for Haldi and NIU.
If you're saying that Toledo lacked killer instinct, I could see that. I'm just saying that you shouldn't pretend CMU didn't have a chance to win (steal, if you prefer) that game. Remember, we also intercepted Gradkowski in the endzone in the 3rd quarter, so it wasn't like UT had stopped trying to score.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to an interesting game in Kelly/Shorts this fall...
See Akron vs Marshall for all the marbles...for us anyways. Granted we didnt let them back in it, they clawed and scratched for it, but our players let up and theirs dug in. Momentum shifted and things fell apart. Too many games get won on comebacks. If your not up fifty in the fourth quarter, you are still in a game.

Duh. If BG lost to a MAC-E team, wouldn't you want him canned? 05-nono
