WKU AD Wood Selig was on the local BG radio yesterday discussing the MAC - in very positive terms, and also talking about the growth of the athletic facilities and programs. Lenghty interview, but very interesting.

TopperJeff has the audio clip posted on his website for those who're interested: <a href='http://www.topperfan.com/wku/media.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.topperfan.com/wku/media.htm</a>

Clip is listed first at the top of the list.

Also, longtime rivals WKU and MTSU played a classic basketball game last night - WKU won in OT on a last-second shot, and then ESPN showed all kinds of highlights on SportsCenter. That's the kind of exposure that I would think the MAC would be looking for in basketball.
Can't remeber the guys name(it was very late), but that alley-oop was #1 on the Sports Center Top 10 last night. They also had a couple other clips from the game on the list. Excellent exposure for both programs, and a very well played game.

The more I see, hear, and read about WKU b-ball and it's traditions, the more excited I get about the posibility of them joining the MAC.

TopperJeff's fan page is much better than most school's official web sites. Very well done. 04-bow
The number 1 top ten play on ESPN was WKU's Wilborn Grace.

The number 6 top ten play on ESPN was WKU's Courtney Lee.
Congrats to WKU beating their rival Mid Tenn. State! Now the tally is Potential MAC 1- Suck Belt -0 :)
Thanks, they were both spectacular plays!! I could just imagine all of the throw-downs your team would have on my hapless Chippewas.
Thanks for the compliment. It's just a little fan site I use mostly to share moments that I get to see that other Topper fans out of town might miss.

Elgrace Wilborn (the dunker) has had 4-5 appearences on the ESPN Top 10 plays this season... all in the top 5. The broadcast of the game, for those that watch it, was done by our own network Hilltopper Sports Satalite Network (hssn.org). The behind the scenes stuff is done by our students. It is a top notch broadcast that CSS and ESPN full court pick up frequently. Everytime ESPN full court shows our game, Elgrace ends up on Top 10.

Topper tradition is strong... .just look at my signature:

Is that the same Elgrace Wilborn from Springfield South high school? If it is, then I remember he was a monster back in the old Western Ohio League but last I had heard he was playing bball at Tennessee.
Yes, the same Elrgrace! He transferred from Tennessee in 2003, sat out last year and is a junior this year at Western.
TJ:

if we add WKU to the MAC for '06, do we start playing some OOC games with WKU in '05/'06?

Think it would be a good idea.
feel the love.

I listened to the interview of the WKU AD, Dr. Selig. Sharp dude.

Time to buy engagement rings.

This sounds like a marriage just waiting to happen.

WKU is waiting for a marriage proposal.

That was a stark interview. I've never heard an AD talk so openly about joining another conference.

They plan a 35M renovation for Smith stadium.

It is my feeling after listening to this interview that it is simply waiting for the MAC to put expansion in motion.

I'd say that would not be a problem. Typically WKU has some open dates for their basketball schedule clear into summer. We have a hard time with our schedule because teams don't want to play us. It will be interesting to see if we see some MAC schools on our schedule.

I think we only have one open date for next year. Is that not what Wood said in the paper about a month ago.

Hey, anything that pisses off Blue Raider Pride is alright by me! Way to go Hilltoppers! 04-bow

Maybe some MAC teams too. 03-wink

MAC hoop coaches might be going crazy with the conference trying to pick up WKU, SIU, Temple, etc.

There has been few easy wins in the conference this year and teams like these won't make it any easier.
