That is impressive! Can BG have one of 'em?
Are you back, too?
I would say that Jeremy was tired of hearing all about Leon winning the Frosh of the Year. Jeremy was AMAZING tonight. He was hitting from all over the place.

Really an impact class.Very impressive!!!-No BS.
Can they share the award? Seriously though I think Leon has a better chance b/c his #'s are stronger even though playing the point as a freshman is a tougher job...
Jeremy also set the steals record for a freshman at Ohio.
The first time an Ohio player has put up 30 points since Esterkamp vs. Virginia in '03
Highest point total by an Ohio player since Brandon Hunter put up 35 points against Marshall in '03.
Averaging 11 points 4 assists
----
Leon has had 3 straight double-doubles and 8 for the season.
Ranks 5th in the country in FG%
Averaging 12 points 8 rebounds

Have to be 2 of the best freshman in the country.
Not going to lie, Ohio is looking very good for the future. Usually a good Guard and Forward are what wins games in college.

You will learn to Fear Jeremy..........I told you this when he was recruited.

Fear turns into Anger. Anger turns into Hate.

Wake me when we go to the post season three years straight.......
If Fears and Williams stay healthy and stay all four years(Ohio has produced 4 NBA players in Last 20 years), This team should hang some banners in the Vo the next few years. O'Shea could become a legend at Ohio, or the next Billy Hahn. It depends on what this program does the next three years. Fears and Williams may save O'Shea's career at Ohio. Last Ohio post season appearance was 1995 in the NIT. Lost @ Iowa second round. Last NCAA 1994 lost Indiana first round. Larry Hunter had only 2 post season trips in 11 seasons. O'Shea is 0 for three, but a win Saturday could change that.

So, you're saying if we win the MAC this year, you would still think this program is going nowhere?

Yes.

Let's define "where"

To have a noted program like Gonzaga we have to go to the post season every year and contend for high NCAA seeds. To even think we are on the verge of this we have to make the post season a few years in a row with Fears and Williams AND after they graduate. When you're somewhere there is no rebuilding years.

I'll be skeptical until we succeed through a full graduation cycle of players. That is where Southern Illinios is now.....they are ready to take the next step "get somewhere" to a high seed contender.

I admit the program is going in the right direction, but no evidence of the Big Time yet.
That is a big bar for any Mid-major program. Kent State has had a very nice run the past several years. As for Gonzaga, they have benefited from the failure of the Pac Ten. UCLA has fallen apart. Outside of Arizona and Utah no one west of the Rockies is a consistent winner during the past 10 years. The problem for Ohio is that we have 10 schools with very strong basketball programs. Some will be up and some will be down. Even Ohio State has been up and down. Dayton, Xavier, Miami have been good, but have had their off years. We had our chance back in 94-95 with Trent to take it to the next level. Larry Hunter was fired for this. He never found a recruit to continue the dominating team the Trent provided. If Trent would have stayed one more season things might have been different. The MAC is much stronger now. One great player doesn't guarantee a MAC title. 9 teams in the top 100 rpi. Kent State had a great run to the elite 8, but that was an exceptional team by MAC standards. No team will dominate the MAC like Gonzaga does the WCC. That league has just 8 teams. The Missouri Valley has just 9 teams. Even big schools struggle to compete every year at that level. Arkansas, UNLV, Georgetown, St.John's, NC State, Villanova, Michigan, and UCLA haven't had much sucess lately. UNLV has not won a tourney game since 1991     Temple,Memphis and Depaul also live on their past glory. The MAC will be always a competive league. One schools doesn't have a huge advantage in $$$$ over the others.

Its a lot easier to dominate an 8 school conference than one with 12-13 basketball schools. See Gonzaga and the West Coast Conference.

To really have any benefit to the school, you have to become a household name program in basketball. Utah and Gonzaga have built names for themselves challenging for high seeds.

Kent has never really gotten over the hump though they are a consistantly good mid major. I can understand a school on the hump, thinking the next level is Big Time because for them it is. The resource parity in the MAC does make it tough for a school to break away from the pack. CUSA and the A-10 are top heavy thats why they've been able to support national programs.

Next year the MAC will be better with just 12 schools in hoops. Hopefully, Ohio plays a tougher schedule next year for more national exposure. We've flown under the radar all year and ready to desend into the post season.
