EMU's men’s swimming team held onto first-place for the entire weekend, and clinched its sixth consecutive Mid-American Conference championship with a total of 1,008 team points in Oxford, Ohio on the campus of Miami University. The title marks EMU’s 25th in the past 28 years.

Looks like I have to update my sig on the tally of MAC championships for EMU. Now, if only I can increase the number for football and basketball...

When I was there was apparently a Renaissance in EMU athletics, we had won multiple Mens CC, Indoor+Outdoor Track and Swimming+Diving championships. Paul McMullen ran the 800 in the Olympics or was it the 1600???? A few mens hoops titles, with Earl Boykins, and that lone wrestling championship. Baseball wasn't very good then. Football had a winning season! Charlie Batch took us to a 6-5 season and with a little more luck we might have won a few more that season. Stevie Clay was greased lightning on the field! He took two kicks to the house against Pitt that season! I was there. Competitive against Syracuse with Donavan McNabb and Qadry Ismail for the 1st half. I was there too! Blistered UNLV that year too! They accussed us of running up the score and didn't want to play us anymore.
