I love questions like that. How the heck are we supposed to tell? Indiana is freaking 13-3 at home and 2-9 on the road. What team shows up on a neutral site?
Let's put it this way: IU's two road wins are against Purdue (#210) and Michigan (#169). I think we can safely assume IU would have a hard time against the MAC 9 on the road. They might be able to slip by NIU and probably could handle Marshall, Eastern and Western Michigan.
IU's 3 home losses were against Norte Dame (#76), Charlotte (#33) and North Carolina (#3). They have beaten Oral Roberts (#69), Ball State (#99), Wisconsin (#18), Ohio State (#53), Michigan State (#48), and Michigan State (#20). Given that they were 6-2 against Top 18-100 teams at home, I would think IU would be able to beat the MAC 9 three times out of four.
If IU were in the MAC, they would probably have gone 11-7, like everyone else.

bopol,
Who are the 9 MAC schools who are better than the number 3 seed defending MAC Champions Western Michigan?

bopol,

The MAC 9 are Miami, Kent St., Akron, Ohio, Buffalo, Western Michigan, Toledo, Ball St., Bowling Green and Western Michigan.
What's this have to do with WMU?
I think he meant Central in the original post, not Western being one of the teams Indiana would probably beat.
Thanks for correcting bopol.
I think every MAC team could beat their football team.
Oh, you meant in basketball :D
