Cary was always nice to me. Too bad some folks are too narrow minded to give her the credit she deserves. Yeah she had some shortcomings but all in all, her tenure at NIU was marked by many accomplishments.

I will be forever grateful to her for bringing Joe Novak to NIU and for having the courage to give him the time that he needed to build a sucessful program. She had to have been under tremendous pressure to bring in a new coach and she resisted that pressure. God bless her, I hope that she has continued sucess in her career. IMHO she is a class act.

Very well stated. Cary Groth was a class act and accomplished a great deal at NIU. Too many on this board take issue with her because A) she shut down their attempts to have a dialogue with her (construed as stalking) B) they are sexist or C) they are homophobes. Regardless, Groth has accomplished more in her lifetime then the doorknobs on this board who take potshots at her will do in their entire lifetimes. Jealously is an ugly thing.
I can only imagine the wrath Groth would incur by some of the doorknobs if it was learned she tools around in a big honkin RV.

I liked Cary a lot. While I know I'm still a doorknob (yes!!), I guess it means that I'm not sexist or a homophobe. Gosh! This may be the first time I can be proud and say somthing nice about myself.
She did great things for the feminazi's and Title 9. That is all the credit I personally will ever give her. End of statement....
Title 9 was a fact of life. It was not going to go away. She was out in front of it and saved us from paying the consequence ofdoing nothing like many schools. If she had not taken it seriously, we would have aid a heavy price today
