What is the NCAA good for anymore except telling certain colleges they can't use Indian names as their mascots? And I don't think that is something good BTW. I think it's total BS political correctness.

Has the NCAA become obsessed with protecting the black athlete or is this about something else?

EZ - Honestly, your harping on Black people does get tiresome. Do you really think that this is about protecting an individual athlete? Do you really think that if this had occured with Reggie Bush at, lets say TCU, the respose would be the same? I doubt it.

IMO, the NCAA is more than willing to allow any one athlete - black or white or Asian or green or blue to be sacrificed at the NCAA altar of "we're all amatuers here". If nothing ends up happening to Bush, it will be more a protection of one of the NCAA's maquee names and teams than the protection of an athlete.

The NCAA and USC already have made their money off of Bush. It's easier to play ostrich and ignore the allegations, to keep USC off of probation and make money on USC national TV games. USC is a huge draw in TV land - especially lets say against Notre Dame....the NCAA would like to keep that cash cow in place. If the big names go on probation and can't be on TV - the NCAA loses money & they can't have that.

Well, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse as they say. Maybe it is all about the money now. But that means college football has changed and it isn't really college football anymore. Sad, but I guess true. The only reason I raise the black issue is because the NCAA at one time in the mid 90's tried to make academics still part of the college athletic experience. They tried to raise academic standards and Chaney and Thompson sued them and won. Of course the racist bleeding hearts that both of these men are protrayed that act by the NCAA as being unfair to blacks. So, I'm wondering if at that point the NCAA back off and said to themselves, "we can't touch the black athlete. Our actions will always be perceived as discrimination against the black athlete since college football and basketball is dominated by blacks."

I mean it's a logical thing to think. You really have to go uphill to fight political correctness in this crazy place called America where we live. I really don't know what makes the NCAA tick anymore except that they have completely thrown in the towel.
I call bull$$hitt. You "raise the black issue" with nearly every thread you get involved in.

You need to get a hold of yourself Karl. It's obvious that you don't like my opinions, and you're going to make false accusations. I do talk about it in the area of the board where it is appropriate--the MAC Spin Room and also the main Spin Room. I talk about it because everybody else is to pu$$y to talk about because they fear people like you falsely accusing them of being a racist. Besides, blacks have gotten a free pass on thier irresponsibility for the past 42 years, and it's high time somebody starts calling them on their nonsense. How you like that? I don't even blame the blacks. I blame the feds (or more specifically the democrats who are the new slavemasters) and race baiters like Jackson and Sharpton for keeping alive and well a federal system of "payback" and entitlement that has ruined the black family. It's time to address this problem!!!

Now, why don't you go over to the MAC Conference Talk board and look at all the post I've made there. Do you see anything there about the black/white issue? No, you don't. So maybe I'm not just a one-track-mind as you believe I am? The simple truth is that you just don't like my opiions, and you would like nothing more than to just shut me up. Isn't that it? Really?
Good for Bush. If people are willing to pay for your talents, take the money.

Wow, am I sorry I missed THIS tripe when you posted it. You're right, to a point...many times, I DON'T like your opinions. That has NEVER caused me to make false accusations to or about you. I have never called you a racist that I recall. If I'm wrong, please provide a link. Your posts have a slant that screams "poor persecuted white man", and quite frankly, it gives me a good hint as to your age and political leaning (never mind the shot at the Democrats and all this being their fault).

As for "getting a pass on their responsibility...", please name ONE ethnic group that doesn't apply to over the last 42 yrs. Our entire society has lost touch with personal responsibility, not just blacks or any other minority.

You demand that I go look at the MAC general discussion board is a red herring. When you've made posts of the nature we're discussing, I've moved them to the smack board. Generally, however, you manage to keep the political/racial stuff where it belongs, which saves me a great deal of time.

And no, I wouldn't just like to shut you up. I WILL, however, continue to challenge you when you spout nonsense and sweeping generalizations. It ticks me off that this kind of garbage is spewed as fact with no one having the balls to challenge it, and I won't let it go, as I used to. I don't post political opinions on the MAC board either if I can help myself. But I WILL on this board. Don't like it? I can't help you with that.

I'm not much on political talk on these boards either, Karl because folks with these kinds of opinions don't learn but... I suppose there are impressionable minds that do read them and to them I say-
"Anytime you hear generalizations about any race, religion, creed or national origin, challenge it to the day you die with every fiber of your being" .

Good quote, waterdude. D'ya know who said it? I'd like to use it, if I can use the source.
Too much racist propaganda is masquerading around as 'political fact' these days.
