New Coach at Utah is scrapping Urban Meyer's offense. I never knew it was called read option? I though spread was the more common terminolgy for us outsiders.

RB Anthony Sherrell is back at EMU after announcing intent to leave following NIU game. He is a wolfe in an eagle's uniform.
In addition it appears that CMU's Seymoure is in some big trouble.

bring on michigan?...............................careful what you pray for....
that sorta bulletin board mantra stirs the juices if it ever reaches players...and gives coaches another tack for the bulletin board just when UM could take us lightly...despite our recent achievements - sometimes some players just don't fully buy into it ....

What are you referring to?

It is the Read Option because the QB first has an option in the backfield with the RB - not your more conventional triple option or veer option. It's been nicknamed "spread", but there are so many variations of what people do out of those multiple WR formations that it's not really one type of O. For example - BG did so much running with Harris (can anyone forget the 62 "QB sneaks" he ran in DeKalb in '02?), but very little with Jacobs. Utah ran the more designed option out of the spread than Miami w/Big Ben, because Ben wasn't much of a running threat (and you don't want a guy that can chuck it like that to get killed running the ball).
thanx- very informative reply.
