The end of the Atlantic 10 as a dominant Div1AA football conference is near. The Colonial Athletic Association announced that all A-10 football playing members would join the new CAA Football Conference by 2007.

The CAA has 6 football playing members, defending National Champion James Madison, 2003 National Champion Delaware, 2004 NCAA Quarterfinalist William & Mary, Towson, Hofstra, and Northeastern. Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Villanova, New Hampshire, and Richmond will be affiliate members for football only.
