Someone on the SBC page suggested a TV (read that ESPN) angle.

I believe that whenever a conference gains or loses members (believe 2 or more) ESPN can re-open their TV deal (the product changes for better or worse with changing membership).

Last year the MAC and ESPN extended a year even though Marshall and UCF left.

I don't know if ESPN is willing to sweeten the pot, but they have the opportunity if they wish.

All of this might be true but I believe Chryst wants to increase the MAC footprint and have more than 12 schools in case any school were to believe for another conference or run afoul of the NCAA on FB attendance.

I doubt ESPN changes anything. Temple FB isnt a big sell.. all they have to do is stay put a year or so and see how n MAC does. they reopened with NBE and Ncusa because they wanted to drop prices.. Dont see any reason for them to reopen so they can spend more.
