I completely disagree as does the NFL, Big Ten, Big 12, CUSA etc...it is the wave of the future.

If done properly-it is a complete no-brainer that will HELP decide pivotal moments and conceivably even the playing field for visiting teams by calling into question the "Homer" calls we in the MAC are accustom to.
Mo money, mo money, mo money, and yes, apparently mo money than the MAC.

I didn't say that instant replay wasn't a good idea. I said that a cost benefit analysis would come up as negligible for the MAC, IMO. At least right now.
I suppose we could on and on, round and round...my first point was " say what you will about CUSA but they ARE stepping up...". I don't think they are willing to concede implosion as quick as SOME posters here might.

I know all about the $ issues- that's why I say hire the folks who know how to get THAT end of it squared away ( evidently that is easier said than done) What I hope happens is that the MAC realizes this as a pivotal moment in it's time and siezes it. The attendance regs re-play etc. are just litmus tests we NEED to pass..IMO
Oddball Wrote:Has anyone considered how this will be implemented fairly? Chances are that it will be dependent on TV cameras. Seems to me that schools like Ohio St., Michigan, Florida, etc. will have a bit of an edge over Kent regarding the technology.
So UT has all it's games televised know?

Why is Kent State becoming the standard example of a bottom feeder all of sudden over more worthy choices such as UB. 4-4 MAC last year, top ranked D that has 7 returning starters this year.

I believe all home games that aren't on ESPN are picked up by BCSN locally. So basically yes. or majority at least.
Good for you.

Most of the MAC still dosn't have most game televised so it isn't going to work league wide. I'm just po'ed when KSU football gets singled out when it's improving.

Last year all but the game at Kansas was televised for Toledo. With BCSN (local sports channel in Toledo), every UT home game will be televised either live or tape delayed after the game is over. When we play games at CMU, EMU, and WMU they will be carried on Comcast Michigan and BCSN. When we play at Ball State the game will be carried by Comcast local and BCSN.

Looking at Toledo's 2005 schedule, I would expect the following:

vs Western Illinois (BCSN)
vs Western Michigan (BCSN)
at Temple (May not be aired)
at Fresno State (ESPN2)
vs Eastern Michigan (BCSN)
at Ball State (BCSN and Comcast Local)
vs Buffalo (BCSN)
at Central Michigan (BCSN and Comcast Michigan)
at Ohio University (ESPN2)
vs Northern Illinois (ESPN2)
at Bowling Green (ESPN2)

So this year the only game that might not be on TV is the one at Temple. Last year the only game that wasn't on TV was the one at Kansas.

You little sisters are SOOO sens-s-s-sitive!

I believe that all but one of Toledo's games last season were televised. That makes them a bad example to demonstrate my point. How many of Kent's games were broadcast? If I remember the number correctly, it makes them an excellent example to demonstrate my point.

FWIW, I used Kent as an example precisely BECAUSE they have been getting better. It heads off the "well, they're just bottom feeders" argument. Unless, of course, an overly sensitive Kent fan cares to make it. 03-razz

I don't think I'm be overly sensitive when I see this in a thread and respond.

Except you didn't respond to that.
Why can't we just continue to beat the dead dog??

Agreed. Instant replay would have been nice to have around when the Rockets got jobbed by horrible officiating in Muncie back in 01.
angry bitter diatribes are NOT good for one's health ...although the memories of that Saturday afternoon when an atrocious Ball State team relieved the Rockets of their top 25 rank are sweet indeed 04-bow 04-drinky 04-bow

That's the problem. Those phantom holding calls and so forth can't be reviewed. Instant replay wouldn't have done a damn thing to help what the officials did that day.

now that's some irony... everyone's argument for bringing Temple in was we'd get more exposure but in reality that's more than likely going to be the only game not on tv.....go figure.

Traffic would drop to nothing if we stayed on topic around here.

So, do the Pistons get back on track this Sunday? While it was sort of cool watching Frist and Robertson eat it this week, I can't believe that nimrod Bolton is going to be confirmed. Speaking of Bolton, his version of "Dock of the Bay" may have been the single most sacrilegious moment in pop music history. While we're on the subject of pop music, what ever happened to "M?" Why didn't Ian Fleming address the question of who would win a fight between M and Q? Also, is it pretentious for Americans to name their children "Ian?" How about "Mick?" Is anyone actually going to pay the ridiculous asking price for Rolling Stone tickets? If so, why? Am I wrong to believe that the Eagles are as much to blame for ticket prices as Ticketmaster? For God's sake, why isn't Don Henley dead yet? Has anyone ever managed to combine quotes from Mojo Nixon and the Dead Milkmen into one concise sentence on this board previously? Should I be proud of that?

I like you, Stuart, you're not like the other people here in the trailer park.
Speaking of the Pistons....... :D

Miami was damn lucky to win Game 2. Detroit went up by 3 with about 3 minutes left, despite playing terribly on offense for virtually half of the game. Detroit played badly in the 2nd qtr and most of the 4th qtr. Without those lapses, Miami would be down 2-0.

Miami needs to find a way to play better or the Pistons are gonna be up 3-1 after the two games in Detroit.

Kent State is the catfish to UB's Lake Sturgeon.

BTW, there is no shame in eating off the bottom. Embrace your bottom feederish qualities. Some of the heartiest treats are dropped or passed on by the more aggressive feeders.

Nope. Who says Frist ate it? Yup. Dunno. 'Cause Miss Moneypenny would kill them both. Yes, but less pretentious than "Bono." Not in Boston. Sure, but not me. Same reasons guys buy sports cars and Cialis off the internet. Nope. Good embalming. Probably not. Sure, it's nice work.

Ooooh, look Odd! Shiny object!
