It seems like each year you can count on at least a handful of huge OOC wins by MAC teams. It's got me curious as to who has the best shot of pulling of some early season magic this year...post away... 04-cheers
Bowling Green over Wisconsin.

I concur.
NIU over Northwestern.

I'm not sure how huge that would be... I just kind of expect NIU to kick the crap out of them
BG over Wisconsin
Miami over Ohio State
NIU over Northwestern
BG over Boise State
Toledo over Fresno State
Ohio over Pittsburgh (major upset special)
NIU over Michigan (UM tends to overlook non-bcs teams early in the game)

Any of these games would be big if the MAC won and could definitely happen. I am sure others can give you other games that could happen.

I don't think it would be huge, but we shouldn't underestimate Northwestern, they're a pretty decent team. I'll be happy to pull out any kind of victory there.

And it is still a win over a Big Ten team, a BCS team, an OOC team. We need every single one of those we can get.
Husky fans, please refresh my memory, but it seems to me you have most everyone back this year. If that's true, and your defense can just slow UM down a little bit (no Edwards to toss to), I like your chances in this game.

NU is not a bad team.

NIU beating them in Evanston may not be "huge" compared to winning in Ann Arbor, Columbus or Madison, but it would be huge for NIU in the Chicago area.

We lost some good defenders, our QB and 3 OLinemen, though we replace them with a couple kids that started at OL in '03. If we get solid QB play, and some youngsters step up on D, we could certainly give UM a game.

Our '03 team would have made this very interesting. The '05 team will be young, especially in the first game.
We've got a decent OOC schedule this year...

@ South Carolina for Spurrier's first game (interesting to see if he can field a full team with all the suspensions, etc.)

@ USF...finally get to play our closest in-state rivals...would be a nice win!

@ Lousiana Lafayette...honestly don't know that much about them
Akron plays at Middle Tennessee St. and Purdue so they could win at least 1 of those games.

They host Army in the middle of the season and that is definitely a winnable game.
9/1 EMU 44 Cincinnati 42

Wellock (PK) for EMU (best PK in country BTW) will kick 3 FG's, including game winner as time expires.

EMU haters out there don't laugh too hard. Cincy has very little coming back on offense and EMU will have arguably one of the most potent offenses in the MAC this season, if not the country.

If we can only tackle.....

If this happens, NIU will instantly become my second-favorite team for the season.

For the Broncos, I'll be happy if we escape with wins over Temple and Southern Illinois. As for our Virginia matchup, I'm just hoping for a competitive game, especially since I'll likely be in Charlottesville for the one.

The only one I see happening is NIU over Northwestern.
Here’s a perspective from a native Chicagoland-er and Wisconsin alum;

From my world Bowling Green over the Badgers seems more plausible than a NIU over the Cats.

I know, I know… conventional wisdom dictates that NIU and BG are nearly even in talent. Yet Wisconsin challenges for the Big 10 ever year and Northwestern simply does not. Which would imply a Badger rout of BG and an even game between NIU and Northwestern.

But… there’s no way Coach Walker will let the Cats overlook NIU. And in turn NIU will have the weight of the world on their shoulders.

… BG on the other hand, while well respected, is relatively unknown. I see one of those San Diego State versus Ohio State (or was it Michigan?) type games where this time the Falcons pull out a win.

Me thinks you have underated NIU and overated NU

And underated Wisconsin

Interesting. Quite a few Wisconsin fans are prediction a loss to BG. The see themselves in a rebuilding year.

UW is a very young squad next year and they usually perform horribly against the spread. It will be interesting.

BA will have his squad as ready as they can be for this game. They are going to run a lot, however they really lack the quick strike capability (very young receivers AND a bad QB). If BG goes up by a couple of scores (a very real possibility), you can put the game in the books. BG will win.

I'm looking forward to the game. Wife and I are going to celebrate our anniversary up in Madison - at her request. Me a lucky guy.

Anyway, I don't see NIU over NU as an upset. I think it will help in the schools exposure in the Chicago market, but the game itself shouldn't be an upset.

I want Miami over tOSU. Badly.
It will not be that big to most of you and it is not early season (10/15), but I believe that KSU will beat Navy in Annapolis. It is big for KSU because it would be the first D1-A OOC win since 1987. Almost had Rutgers last year. This is the year! 04-rock
