I was almost certain that the MAC Presidents Meetings was scheduled to begin Thursday June 2. However, I've heard nothing about such a meeting.

If indeed they did meet, the fact that we've heard nothing leads me to believe that a press release is scheduled early this week and that maybe there will be some significant news. It used to be when UCF was in the MAC that the Orlando Sentinal would leak news. Looks like no other media source wants to replace them in this role.

WKU posters also appear to have heard nothing over the last couple of days.

We should also receive a report soon from Vandelay's scheduled interview with Commissioner Chryst.

There was a post on another forum of a Wisconsin newspaper report that confirms what we've suspected, namely that the MAC and Big Ten are cooperating more and more in scheduling, especially following the new rule which allows a 12th game each year.
Ok 105 people viewed this post looking for info, not one reply.
WHat is up, nobody know. Presidents meeting, yes , no
AFTER 2 YEARS of speculation is this WKU"s time.

I hope it is. They would be a good addition to the MAC.
Anyway all is quiet on this board.

On the WKU board they have been excited for the past year since
a radio station reported it over one year ago.

anymore.

Quote:The first item on the agenda was a presentation on the Kaplan Initiative. Dr. James Catanzaro, Mr. Martin J. Vespo, and Mr. John Rouche presented the information to the Presidents' Council. The material presented was for information purposes only and no action was required.

The second and third items on the agenda were presented by Chancellor Charles Smith. As the second item, Chancellor Smith provided a report on recent meetings and activities that he attended. Third on the agenda was an update on legislation and pertinent legislative issues. The weekly legislative review was distributed to the presidents.

As the fourth item on the agenda, General Counsel Christine Modisher presented information on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. This item was for information purposes only. No action was required.

Next on the agenda was the proposed continuation of the Post Retirement Service Program for Tenured Faculty. Vice Chancellor David Gregory presented this item to the presidents for their consideration. A motion was made to approve the continuation of the Post Retirement Service Program for Tenured Faculty for an additional two years from July 1999 through June 2001. The motion was unanimously approved.

The sixth item on the agenda was a report on academic transfer and articulation. Vice Chancellor Sidney McPhee presented this item for information purposes only. No action was required.
Thought the meeting started today?

I'd say WKU is still on the table. If the MAC was no longer interested WKU, you'd for sure see something in the paper from WKU saying how happy they are in the SBC and that we are committed to being a member of the Sun Belt, yadda yadda. Since nothing of that type has come out, the rumors continue, and my guess, so does the discussions between the conference and WKU.
Anyone? Anything?

I'm hearing announcement coming soon.
