I couldnt find anything on this that has been posted before....but why is the WMU game on a tues? Is it gonna be on ESPN? If not (and even if it is) that seems pretty dumb. Its a Tues night, gonna be 30 degrees, nobody is gonna show up, and its senior night. This just seems like a horrible idea, even if it is on ESPN.
Because we are playing Miami and Tol during the week, it eliminates 2 Saturdays in which we can play. It left us with having to play WMU on the Tu befroe Tgiving. They could not play it the following week because the MAC championship game is scheduled. The week day games can screw up the schedule
We (Toledo) play BG (at BG) that night as well.

I highly doubt it will be on ESPN, probably the Toledo/BGSU game will be. But I bet you Comcast picks it up, and if you think about it if we are playing for a MAC west title that game will probably get good ratings from the Chicago audience. It was what had to be done, but its not all bad.

How about an all MAC night? UT vs. BGSU on ESPN, NIU vs. WMU on ESPN2. NIU defeats WMU to clinch its first ever outright West Division crown. 04-rock
UT at BGSU is at 7pm on ESPN2.......as far as I know ESPN is open that night.

Why is this game so late in the season??? Crossover games s/b done in OCT, just in case by some miracle there would be a rematch the following week... Not good promo... Not good TV.....

UT pumpkin game s/b moved.......

It is the last regular season game of the season for each team because of the rivalry it is. We have been playing against each other in football since 1919, the first year BG fielded a team.......Toledo started playing football in 1917.

When BG was moved back to the East Division for this fall, the MAC said they would not interfere with the integrity of the rivalry and allow it to still be played as the last game of the season. It has become tradition over the last 5 or 6 years for this game to be played the week of Thanksgiving and I don't expect that to change, even if one day UT and BG are in seperate conferences.

No knocking the rivalry, but why wait until the last game of the regular season, when there is a strong possibility that they will be playing each other week later for the MAC Championship. If the MAC is so conscious of TV ratings (why else would you schedule a game on a Tuesday), you'd think they'd have schedule the "rivalry" game for earlier in the season.

There is also a strong possibility that the loser of the UT/BG game will be knocked out of the MACC game.

There is also a possibility that neither UT nor BG will be in the MACC game.

We can only hope you are right about the latter.

People keep talking about Bowling Green (for good reason) and Toledo in the MAC. Seems to me that Miami is getting foolishly neglected in the discussion of MAC supremacy in 2005. On paper at least, they have a real nice footbal team shaping up.
As well as, objectively speaking of course, NIU. They deserve some merit, especially if Dan Nicholson leads them to the promised land (MAC championship and undefeated season).

Yes - it is good to dream big!

The MAC championship game is scheduled for the Thurs after T-giving on ESPN. If we played the Saturday of T-giving, we'd only have 4 days to turn around and play again, and no one in the MAC appears to want to be in that situation.

You are correct. Nobody gave Miami much of a chance last season either, and they won the East and played in the MACC. They were overshadowed by Marshall for much of the time, except 2003, and now they are going to be overshadowed by Bowling Green.

Miami is going to be better than they were last year, but I expect BG to be better too. Miami hosts BG though, and that might be enough to get them past them. On the other hand, Miami has to play at NIU while BG hosts Toledo. Both play the top 2 West division teams, but BG gets their game at home and Miami has to play at NIU. Assuming that Miami loses at NIU and BG beats Toledo, they could finish in a tie for the East at 7-1 if Miami beats BG......and Miami would win the bid into the MACC game in that case.

ESPN will pick it up nationally. This will be a huge game as the nation will want to see NIU go undefeated in the regular season and clinch their first ever MACC appearance..... 03-wink
