I am a Hilltopper, been reading some of your posts on Haven and thought I would start visiting here. Here's hoping that all these conference problems get sorted out. By the way, there is a new attitude about football in KY so while we will go through growing pains after a couple of years you will no longer be looking at us as not adding anything to football. You might even wish we would add a little less :) . Anyway make room for the Hilltoppers in 1a and maybe in the MAC (I think next year!)

This is supposed to be a welcoming thread. Go peddle your insults elsewhere.
Love to have the Hilltoppers in the MAC! 04-rock : 04-rock 04-rock
Where do I send your "GILF (Goats I'd Like 2 Phuck) T-shirt? :D

Umm why exactly?
Because based on my experience, their basketball arena and atmosphere rivals anyone else in the MAC. :withstupid:

And WKU is such a power house that they command a TV deal of zero dollars as a SBC school, with an RPI that says NIT written all over it. Can't even get 5,000 for a NIT home game against Kent State.

WKU takes us to the next level in athletics
I'm looking forward to Western Kentucky coming to the MAC and a great basketball and football rivalry with the CARDS!

I think WKU has more NCAA and NIT appearances than Ohio. I got an idea. How about if Kit-Cat lists all of Ohio’s NCAA and NIT appearances and WKU’s side be side for comparison. And since I think Kit-Cat is a closet Terd fan it might be a good idea to include the Terds in that comparison list. How about it Kit-Cat?
How about you start looking realistically? Western Kentucky would fit right into the heart of the conference with their tradition, facilities and reputation. When was the last time a MAC school was an 8 or 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament? When was WKU?

In 15 years, there will be no great football split once Solis has the Bobcats on top. There will be no academic conference with Army and Navy. Ohio will be in the MAC just like they have been for decades. You have to play the hand you are given. And WKU would improve that hand, IMO.

I would really look forward to seeing WKU in the MAC. This is why I have a feeling that it isn't going to happen. We'll probably add Tri-State University as long as they promise to give us two basketball games per year. Besides the basketball games that they'd bring, the Thunder would provide us the Angola, Indiana market, which is currently untapped.

In all seriousness, I'd like to see WKU in the MAC for all sports.

Think of it this way......

If WKU only has 4k and change for an NIT game against KSU.....and Bowling Green has 50,000 people its not very good.

How many alumni does WKU have in Ohio? 300? They won't travel very well to the Gund. How many times WKU has been in the post season over the years doesn't really matter. They are small market and in the south.

If they played in the MAC, they'd would be beaten up in conference play with a 10-8 record like the rest of us. Unless your talking of adding a program like Memphis or Cincinnati to the MAC in basketball that would dominate its not going to make a difference in the amount of bids to the NCAA's.

Temple in hoops would make a difference because of its TV market and East Coast recruiting opportunities. I just don't see WKU doing much for us. I'd rather we just give Eastern Michigan its walking papers than to bring in another small market program.
Western Kentucky would be a good add for the MAC. They are an upgrade over Marshall. Kentucky is a basketball crazy state. Wky has done well despite being overshadowed by Kentucky and Louisville. WKY would be better than the average MAC team. They beat Kent and would be very tough. The Sun-belt is an above average conference in hoops. We would be getting one of their elite programs. Wky helps MAC rpi. That will lead us to multiple bids to the NCAA. Expanding south and west may open the options for the MAC. Would Arkansas little-Rock, La-Lafayette, Middle Tennessee,Wichita State, Creighton, Northern Iowa, Missouri State(AKA SW Missouri State or SMS), or Southern Illinois consider the MAC in the future? These are all programs with winning tradtions and are mid-majors.

Memphis is a major playing in a Mid-major conference. It's just a matter of time before the Big East finds them a seat at their crowded table. Perhaps, when Syracuse moves to the ACC or WVA or Pittsburgh move to the Big Ten. Memphis is what the Big East wants and not Temple. Temple will be in the MAC for a long time. Perhaps long enough to bring that overated(no longer top 25) hoops program aboard.
Welcome David75BSU. I've known him for about 10 years from various boards.

My welcome to both of our new posters and welcome to WKU (okay, I'm being premature here).

I am going to enjoy playing you guys in basketball, lets face it if you think we are going to be a "middle of the pack" basketball member then I can promise you would see big changes quick, you might not care if your school has a mediocre basketball program however it is was and always will be the sport. Despite what you may want to believe as to why UK and UL will not play WKU they make it a point to play almost every school in the state except WKU, they don't have 1a football either. They know that WKU will win their share of those games. If they lose to WKU they can't continue to sell the blind following they have that they are the only two teams in the state.

So I will say it again after a few years of transition to 1A you will find we will hold our own. But basketball? That in the words of the old Texas philospher will be "the whippin you get, for the whippin we got" as in we will take our lumps in football then do our damage in basketball. :chair:

Then in a few years we will just dominate you in everything! Okay, that is a little far but the above quote seemed to doubt our roundball credentials so I have to come to my schools defense.[QUOTE]
