I have been checking around various message boards to see the scoop on today's Ohio north-south game and some reports state that there are some good incoming recruits to certain MAC schools including Miami, BG, Ohio, WMU and maybe that was it. UT was not mentioned. Did UT have any recruits there? Apparently Tim Hiller (WMU and former UT recruit) was extremely accurate and really impressive. A couple of the Colerain kids supposedly looked really good. An interesting point was that runningback Cedric Tolbert apparently stunk it up. He chose UC over UT. I believe that he visited UT the same weekend that DaJuane Collins visited UT. I was hoping that he chose UT at the time but after finding out more about Collins, I was satisfied when I heard Collins committed. After signing day, I have grown very excited that Collins committed. Now I'm excited that Tolbert is going to UC. There was a DB from Youngstown Ursaline (UC) whose name escapes me right now but I remember that UT was big on him. Apparently he looked real good. Apparently the highlight of the day was RB Tyrell Sutton who chose Northwestern. Sorry about the stream of consciousness post.

Anyway, were there any future Rockets there?
None in the North-South Classic. If you're concerned UT is not represented don't be. Our incoming freshman class is very good.Recruits are from 9 states and Ontario. Two of the preferred walk-ons are the #53 and #86 rated players in Ohio by "Ohio High Magazine".This group will be one of the Rockets most athletically and physically gifted classes. I think it is very under-rated.Dajuane Collin's MVP award for the NJ-NY Allstar FB Game and Chris Faison's Michigan's state high jump title are indicative of the quality of the new Rockets.

No, I wasn't concerned. I paid attention to UT's most recent recruiting class and I think that it's going to be an exciting group of kids. I know that a lot of UT's recruits came from Florida, NJ, NY, Canada, Michigan, and Texas. I remember that the UT got a Westerville receiver, Glaser from Akron Hoban, Eric Heller from Columbus, and Keith Forestal from [Youngstown?]. Anyway, I didn't know if any of those guys were there. Just curious because I hadn't heard anything about them.

Regardless, I think the coaches did a great job of recruiting last year, especially Devlin.

From the way it sounds, recruiting this year is going to be even tougher for them.

The Rockets are only going to have 13 or 14 scholarships open.
Some of them will probably go to a few walk-ons leaving 10 or 11 openings.I don't think the Rockets will have any trouble filling them.
UT could probably fill them from Florida alone. While Rivals runs a Top 20 for Indiana, Top 30 for Michigan, Top 50's for Illinois and Ohio,Florida has a Top 100.I've talked to high schools players in the Boca -Delray-Deerfield area about the MAC,Omar, the Rockets. They seem to know the Rockets and have a favorable opinion of them. The Rockets could do pretty well down here this year.
Robin Bailey is the 6'5" 200 lbs WR/QB from Westerville South.

With our sustained recent success, I'd think that a good year this upcoming season would make a small class a great thing for us. We will have few real needs, and ought to be able to be much choosier with regards to who we recruit. I expect another stellar class next year.
I just hope that we can start beating out UC on some recruits. Their new position in the BE is giving them a decent advantage over UT. :(

It hasn't helped them in their rankings.UC is still ranked in the lower eschelon of FB programs. The Rockets are rated 40-50 spots above them. The Rockets have been a much better program than UC.
