Rumor has it that Kirby Hocutt will be named Ohio's new athletic director soon. Nothing has been made official, but sounds like everyone is pretty sure he is the guy. He's 34 years old and is currently the Associate A.D. for External Operations & Sports Administration at Oklahoma.

Quote:Entering his sixth year at the University of Oklahoma is Associate Athletics Director, Kirby Hocutt.

Hocutt's duties at OU include supervision of the athletics development office, athletics ticket office, special events, stadium suite program, athletics endowment program, letterwinners association and the department's facility use and rental program.  He additionally is the primary administrator for football and the sport supervisor for baseball, men's and women's golf, as well as men's and women's tennis.

Hocutt has led OU's athletics fundraising to an all-time high in annual giving and capital campaigns.  Since 1998, OU's annual giving has increased from $3.4 million to over $14 million in 2004.  This 312% increase in annual giving is one of the highest percentage increases in intercollegiate athletics history.

Beginning in 1999, Hocutt served a leadership position in the strategic planning for the $100 million capital campaign titled: The Campaign for Sooner Sports"Great Expectations.  This campaign was truly unique in the fact that it focused on facility construction or improvements for each of OU's 20 sports.  The Great Expectations Campaign came to an end on November 14, 2004 and had raised over $120 million.

In ticketing, Hocutt has supervised the sale of 63 stadium suites, as well as the sale of 2,250 club seats and 5,000 chair back seats resulting in $56 million of revenue at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.  The 2003 football season marked the fifth consecutive year that the Sooners have sold out all home football games.

With an emphasis on better organizing the reuniting of alumni with their respective sport team, Hocutt has supervised development of the Sooner Sports Reunion Program.  This program is vitally important to OU Athletics as it continues to promote the rich history of success by bringing Sooner alums back to campus to celebrate their experience as a Sooner student-athlete.

Prior to joining the Sooner staff, Hocutt served as the assistant director of licensing at the NCAA.  In that position, he worked with NCAA corporate partners and licensees to create new revenue producing initiatives to support and promote all 81 NCAA Championships.  He began his career in sports administration as the assistant director of marketing and promotions at Kansas State University.  While at K-State, he implemented revenue-producing activities for the athletics department including corporate partner sponsorships and ticket sales.

A former student-athlete at Kansas State, Hocutt was a four-year letterman in football while leading the Big 8 Conference in tackles and being named All Big 8 Conference Linebacker during his junior season.  The Sporting News selected him in 1993 as one of the top 20 "underrated" players in the nation.

Hocutt earned his bachelor's degree from K-State in political science in 1995 and his master's of education degree from the University of Oklahoma in December 2001.  He is married to the former Diane Grosko and they are the proud parents of two sons, Drew Phillips, born February 21, 2002 and Brooks Ryan, born May 7, 2004.

Solich and Hocutt can both have fun rooting against Nebraska, then.
Tom Boeh has long been rumored to have BigXII ties.......sounds like this candidate could be a recommendation by the Boehster.
Yeah, could be. Solich was also on the committee, he might've been familar with the guy.
Perhaps he gets OU to pay OU at OU.
11 am press conference tomorrow to announce the new AD
