I think in terms of intensity Northwestern might be the most heated atmosphere.
I expect a win at Northwestern. The NIU crowd will be larger than the NU crowd.

We need to BEAT TOLEDO!!!! We can not claim the top of the hill until we do.
After visiting Dekalb for the NIU/Toledo game last year (and being rather impressed by the experience) I can't wait to show you guys how we do things over here in Toledo. I'd love to see those of you who make the trip come over to see us at the Jambulance in lot 10. (the lot at the open end of the stadium)

No way Michigan... 100,000 vs. 7000 is not atmosphere, not to mention, we will be big underdogs

Toledo will be electric, and it will be a competitive, well matched game. But how many NIU fans do you imagine will be in the Glass Bowl? Perhaps 2000?

Miami OH will be for us what the NIU Toledo game will be for Rocket fans. Again - competitive and well matched...

Northwestern is the clear answer. It is uncommon for there to be such an equal showing in attandance. Similar to Toledo and Miami OH, it will be a competitive, well matched game, but the 50/50 fan attendance will be compelling. The kicker will the the public vs. private school grudge match effect - not unlike a Sox/Cubs game or the "Street Smarts vs. Book Smarts" season of "The Apprentice".

NIU fans are going to want to jam it down the throats of stuffy, uppity NU fans... Go Huskies!

Please do not retaliate for the flat tires on the Rocketmobile, chances are it wasnt even a real Huskie fan, just a drunk bored student :)

If that Nov game vs Toledo is for the MAC West I think NIU fans will come out in big time numbers for a weekday game.

Thanks for the kind words. What was it about our atmosphere (pre-game and during game) that you were impressed with?

Of course not. In fact, I'd like to see if we can get Huskie Mobile Man in lot 10 next to us.
No doubt, we will have the Glass Bowl rocking when you dogs visit............... and no Rocky Horror halftime show either. 03-wink

P.S. We have lots of those hand-cranked sirens now too (and cow bells that you guys turned us on to).

I was really impressed by the friendliness of the NIU tailgaters. We had a great time talking about MAC football and each others teams. I love seeing how other schools' fans have fun before the game.

Concur with Photodan. You guys were definitely loud. The couple of hundred Toledo fans just tried to get our noise in edgewise between your noise. We felt like we did a pretty good job in that respect.

We thoroughly enjoyed irratating you guys with our sirens (not used when the ball was in play). We were told to stop using them because we were "disturbing the peace." We never did quite figure that one out in light of the almost 30,000 NIU fans armed with thunderstix. Of course, that won't happen in the Glass Bowl. The sirens have become our way of letting the Rockets know they have support in the stands.

Tailgating was fun, except for the slashed tires on our friend's tailgating trailer. Made for a long night.

Other that that it was a nice, cool fall evening. Perfect football weather. The coverage in SI ("Tuesday Night Lights") was neat as well.
NW.....BTW, alcohol shouldn't be a problem according to some of their fans.
Michigan...its the Big House! - With 100,00 Michigan fans - No way
Northwestern...cant beat the in-state rivalry! - 1/2 empty stadium - No way
Toledo...it's all about the MAC West! - This is what MAC football is all about!
Miami-OH...under the lights at Huskie stadium! - A close second
The Michigan Game! No doubt about it, end of story! Nothing beats 100,000+ fans on opening weekend. Add in the fact that we're playing a top 5 team! I'd say the Miami OH game at home will be a close 2nd.

I will be there. Hopefully with a few of my Huskie Homies. Keep me updated as far as the parking pass. That would really be sweet as$!

What did those tires run you guys? I know it may not have been so much about the $, but just a big pain in the long run.
One fan's atmosphere is another fans beer fart.

UM should be a special atmosphere for me - unless it gets out of hand early.

Not so sure many NU students on campus until later ......tailgating areas are limited and parking is scattered......little pregame atmosphere other than possible smell of alewives wafting off Lake Michigan or way too much Georgio or white wine eminating from home stands...

A Wed nite game early in season following NU , UM and TTU not likely to generate all that much excitement.

I noiminate stuffing WMU which clinches MAC west title on turkey eve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For several reasons, it's important that we beat Northwestern. They are a good program this year and a win against them will accrue lots of benefit in terms of media exposure and generating interest among fans, alumni and prospective future recruits. Having said that, Toledo is the biggest game on the schedule, and by a wide margin.
I'm going with other. I think Homecoming will have the best atmosphere. Why 3 road games and one home game? Of your choices, I think there are 2 different types of atmosphere. The Mich and NU games will have should have great weather and the excitement of a new season, while the Toledo and Miami games should have the added bonus of something more important riding on the line, giving it the atmosphere an added bonus.

As for the SI coverage from the Toledo/NIU game, while it was cool to be mentioned, I really thought that guy made us look bad by focusing on the students that chose to leave the game. He made it out to be 30K leaving the stadium in droves.

Kedz, the amount of people do not make the atmosphere. It helps, but remember what BG said about Huskie Stadium after the 2002 game.

I'm not sure what he paid for the three tires but you'd also have to add the unplanned overnight hotel stay. We managed to turn it into a positive though, by stopping off and grabbing lunch at Gino's East. Oooooh, best pizza ever. MMMMM, DEEP DISH.

We'll let you know about lot 10 as soon as we figure it out.

-Dan
As long as the weather is good. Look for a HUGE Huskie turnout at the former Lezbo Field.
