I don't know if this has been posted earlier, but here it is....

The topic was started by a poster named Rocketbuckeye (just how many non-Ohio State students/alums are rabid Buckeye fans? )

Oh well, GO HUSKIES!!! 04-rock
It always amazes me when they call Garrett Wolfe a speed guy and AJ a power guy just because A.J. is bigger.

A.J. Harris is the track champion and runs the faster 40; just because he is big doesn't mean he can run, much like that doesn't mean Garrett isn't extremely strong for his size.

edit: Is anyone else just disgusted by the fact that the majority of the people on their board go to school somewhere else but are all Some School that is Mediocre - Good & Michigan Fans.
pitiful.. if you wanted to root for Michigan, should have gone there, if you couldn't get in, then why would you root for them.

84 - the're called frontrunners, and they're weak and spineless. ND has a lot of these, also - throughout Indiana there are people who proudly proclaim to be ND FB fans and IU BB fans....that way they're always out front.

It's not unlike all the people that jumped on the UofI BB bandwagon last year.
Having grown up in the Chicagoland Area, Watching Notre Dame on WGN I grew up a ND fan. When I attended NIU, I became a Huskie fan and remain to this day. People are capable of being a fan of more than one College program. You don't have to chose after you go to college. I will root for both teams. It is not bandwagon jumping. I followed Illini Basketball but would never purchase a T-shirt for U of I because of it.
Huskie Dan -

Good point on the "front runners"... This will make you sick to your stomach.

I went to the NIU vs. Ball State basketball game this year and saw two NIU students waiting in line for tickets - one wearing a "Michigan" sweatshirt, the other wearing an "Illinois" sweatshirt. I made a comment something like, "Oh, are you guys visiting students from Michigan and U of I?" to which they responded - "No, we are NIU students..."

I think that is really poor form, going to attend a sporting event of the school that you pay thousands of dollars a year to attend - then advertise another school. That burns me
I have to say that talk on the Michigan board is a little more objective than I would have thought. If we look at our chances seriously, on paper I think Michigan should win by something like 42-10 which is basically what they are saying over there, and they seem to know alot about the NIU football team. But all we know how the Huskies have had alot to say about what the results on paper should be over the past few seasons by their play on the field overcoming the odds. I think alot of this year's success is going to depend on the coaching staff having faith in freshman. Sometimes you just have to throw people into the fire and not worry so much that they are first year players. My only one concern of Joe Novak through the years is that Im not sure how good he is with first/second players, he needs to overcome his fears of freshman, I mean after all there is a reason you recruited them.
I don't think coach Novak is afraid to play a freshman. I do think that a great coach (and make no mistake about it, we do have a great coach) is a good psychologist. I believe that Joe has created an environment where even very good athletes have to earn their way the field to play for the Huskies.

We played a freshman place kicker last year and Larry English started as well. I think English was a true freshman?

Joe knows when these guys are ready and he knows who gives us the best chance to win. He does not always make perfect chices (no one could) but he makes damn good decisions in the aggregate.

Joe is not afraid to play a freshman, but he won't play someone that he believes is a risk to make costly mistakes. Larry English played last year in the first game of the year, at Maryland. Marcus Perez and Matt Simon were thrown into the fray as true frosh at WR vs. SIU when Hurd and Powers screwed up and got suspended.

The QB position has a lot of opportunities to make costly mistakes, so a kid is going to have to show a good grasp of the O and not throw the ball all over the place in order to play QB. This is not unique to NIU.

Some of those guys just have no idea about us. "but without much of a passing game." We dont know if we dont have much of a passing game, If Davis starts its just a question mark, but Horvath put up very good numbers in the air vs. ISU and BGSU, and could have very easily had is in OT @ Maryland in his first time seeing PT. So is are passing game a question, yes, but do we not have much of a passing game I dont know.

Heres another quote

Well they have a new starting QB although Horvath saw some decent time last year. Their top two WR's are gone. They lost their 3 best lineman on offense so despite the fact that they have some pretty good RB's, that O may struggle against UM. Consider that UM hasn't really struggled v. a team that's predominantly running, which NIU will be. And Horvath is not considered a running QB!

We didnt lose our 2 best WR's or our 3 best linemen. And arent again Ohio State and Texas running teams?

I have to agree with you on that. I'll admit that I have liked Illinois Bball team since I was like 6 (because my dad went to U of I) but if when I go to Huskie games I would never EVER dare to wear something Illinois to the game. Its just stupid.

Before you guys say anything I would cheer without even thinking about it if NIU played Illinois in any sport, but I still cheer fot Illinois because my dad is an alum.
Here's a notable quote from the michigan board.

Quote: Michigan's front seven should have no trouble shutting down the running game.
I'd ask Troy's number 7 run defense and Alabama's "amazing" run defense what they thought about the running game.

While I don't think our defense can get the job done against Michigan, I don't know how you can question our running game until you see it do anything but dominate.
