Some friends of mine from Chicago, Atlanta and Boston are thinking of opening a Buffalo Wild Wings in Dekalb. They have 3 stores in other parts of the country and all are doing well.
I noticed it was mentioned in a post on another topic. Have any of you been to one of these? Any opinions? I will pass your comments on.
Are there any other types of places you might suggest these guys open in Dekalb/Sycamore. They are definitely coming into the area........nothing is set in stone............but they are very interested in this corridor.
smartedt place I could think of is if there is space on 38 west of glidden. Close tot eh dorms to walk and right by the stadium.
I thought there was a Buffalo Wild Wings in DeKalb, across the street from Tom & Jerry's on 38. I thought it opened in the early '90s, perhaps it is gone now.

Good luck with your project.

One opened up here in Bloomington-Normal not long ago and it became in instant hit! I personally love it and see many "regulars" there all the time! A very popular place for sporting events and whatnot.

I'd imagine it would be just as popular and successful in DeKalb as in B/N. It would be a very wise business move and I woudl surely find myself visiting frequently when school starts!

Keep us updated!
And to fully answer your question, I agree with the person who said near the stadium. It would be sweet to go there to celebrate a big Huskie win! I could see it being a pretty popular hangout for students and all Huskie fans alike!

I haven't been there yet, but I know there's a new one in Warrenville right near I-88, across the street from the AMC Theatres.
Is it going to be a brand new building or could/would you use an existing one? I thought I had read that Husky's went under. It is definately near the stadium right on 38. It isn't particularly near the dorms though. Then again neither is Fatty's and they seem to be doing ok with students. It would be near the motel/hotels making it easy to walk to. There are several apartment complexes in the area. Bus stops at Dollar Video if I remember correctly(right next to the former Husky's). Seems to have a pretty good amount of parking.

I will see if I can think of anywhere else.

Yep, it's an ok place.

Wings are a disappointment because they are so small. IMO, Hooter's kicks this place in the balls for regular wings. Boneless on the other hand...
They are an "in" place at the moment, but I have found the food to be really overpriced and overrated....I have only been to the one on Diehl Road.....sorry for the negative feedback, but I wish you guys the best

That would be one cercern about the whole attracting students thing... I can afford it now but once I start school, I'm not getting a job until atleast 2nd semester. It is a tad bit pricey. I'm sure students would be more attracted to cheap college bars than a place like this.

I would not, however, agree with the overrated part. That's just my opinion though.
While job searching for the summer (I don't have a degree yet so im not looking for good jobs :( ) I noticed that there was an ad for a Buffalo Wild Wings that was going to be opening in DeKalb and that was like a month ago, is this ad from your friends ?
To tell you the truth I am not sure. I will find out and let you know after the holiday. I didn't think they were that far along on the Dekalb site, but they are on the move all the time so it wouldn't suprise me.
Wings are overpriced and small. Atmosphere in the place is Ok, but nothing special. I personally don't think it's a good formula if you're going after students as your primary cliental.
The BW3 here in Rochester is known for their slow service,
so I only frequent the establishment if others choose it as
the designated watering hole.
I am also dismayed that everything costs extra, and nothing
seems to be included with anything else: fries, for example.
If it works out for you, I'm sure you will make all of us proud.
We'll be certain to spend lots of money there!

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I've always wondered this... why do they call it BW3??? Please somebody give me an answer... this has been KILLING me! haha
There is one in Algonquin and on the weekends it is packed. I do not think that food is the number one reason for going there. It is a place to watch sports, drink, and have fun. $0.25 wings on Tuesdays are good and lunches are reasonable.
Don't laugh .... wenk.
Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck.

Hm. Well that's interesting! I figured there was another W somewhere that stood for something. Thanks for answering my question!
Your buddies missed the boat in DeKalb...

Buffalo Wild Wings is opening in October on Sycamore road right in front of Borders in the parking lot. The building has already been built and they just started building out this week. It's a done deal. I was also told that its a corporate BW3 not a franchise.
That must have been the one whose advertisement I saw.
