The young and the restless
The top juniors for the 2006 Draft:

1. OT Doug Free, 6-6 290, Northern Illinois
Very athletic tackle with quick feet, in 2003 he was named as a Sporting News 3rd Team Frosh All-American. Very experienced, coming into the 2005 season he has 24 consecutive starts, 22 at left tackle and 2 at tight end. Graded out remarkable well last (2004) year at 91% with 17 pancake blocks. Very quick and powerful, runs a 5.0 forty, 30" vertical, 335 power clean and a 565 pound squat.

2. Andrew Carnaham, 6-7 290, AZ State
Shame he couldn't start for UofI's line according to Alum.
Just wondering on what Free's reputation was like coming out of high school? Anybody know?
Hopefully someone with a subscription to one of the recruiting sites can fill us in with more info. I'd be interested in hearing also. From the free portion of Rivals, he looks like any other kid: 2 Star Athlete and not rated at his position. In fact, he was in the same class as fellow 2 star recruit Matt Rodgers, who is listed at the same height, but 20 pounds heavier than Free.
he was a TE in high school, so he wasnt as big and highly recruited...at NIU he got a lot bigger moved to OT and coach pittman coached him up
Phil Steele had him ranked as #323 on theDline coing out of HS. Take that for what it is worth.
