The Buffalo Bills have entered the final phase of preparation for the 2005 season. In the weeks of August, the Bills will take on their most intense work in the hopes of ending their five-year absence from the postseason. With the team more determined than ever to reach the playoffs, there are several developments for Bills fans to monitor. Bills Digest has put together a comprehensive breakdown of the team's most pressing categories that will affect the final shape of the roster as well as the level of team success come September.

(Here are excerpts from some of the Tip Sheet categories)

Camp Sleepers (2 of 7 listed here)

Brad Cieslak - The Northern Illinois product had plenty of reps in the spring with Mark Campbell and Tim Euhus recovering from ACL injuries, and Cieslak made an impression. He showed toughness and grit as a point-of-attack tight end. If he can be effective in Buffalo's ground game, he may make the coaching staff think twice. Liam Ezekiel - A dominant small-school middle linebacker, Ezekiel brings unusual strength and top-notch smarts to the table. If his sharp recognition skills have him consistently around the ball, he could land a spot on the practice squad.

Hearing Footsteps (1 of 4 listed here)

Joe Burns - The reliable special teamer has carved a niche for himself after making the team as an undrafted rookie in 2002. But he will face heavy competition from seventh-round pick Lionel Gates at reserve tailback and on special teams. Meanwhile, undrafted rookie Jon Goldsberry represents competition at fullback and special teams as well.

Top New Faces (1 of 4 listed here)

Bennie Anderson - The space eater comes from a successful ground attack in Baltimore where he helped pave the way for Jamal Lewis' 2000-yard season. He's played more right guard than left guard, but has taken to the switch fairly well. The staff just wanted him to drop a bit more weight by training camp so he was more mobile.

How come no mention on NIU's Rob Lee- also signed w/ the Bills- and his "sleeper" potential going into the Bills camp?
I don't think they listed everybody for the online version of the story. Next to camp sleepers, it says "2 of 7 listed here."
Well they can't list every free agent as a sleeper or they'd lose credibility, and maybe Rob didn't impress people/the author as much as Brad did. Plus, it's only one person's opinion, which doesn't really matter anyway. Coaches make the final decisions 03-wink
